Featured Gallery Album The CNC work of @honesttjohn. Featured Video Jögge ‘surolle’ Sundqvist is a fourth-generation craftsman, brought up in the Swedish sloyd tradition. A woodworking and carving artist like no other and is renowned for his impressive sculptural installations, furniture, and beautifully carved decorative objects. This rare video from late 2022 shows the special bond between the hands making a Morakniv and the hands using it. A shared philosophy that is carefully handed over from the knife manufacturer to the artisan. In this session, Jögge performs a masterclass shoulder to the skilled men and women at the wooden handle department. The very same skilled craftsmen and women that assemble the woodcarving knives he uses daily.
December 18, 20232 yr Popular Post Not sure how much time I'll get in the shop this week...Marie will be full court on here Christmas baking stuff and i'll have to help with that. But if I do get some time in the shop I'll be screwing around with the lathe pretending to be a turner. A little bit of a break from when i pretend to be a woodworker. If i can work it out I'd like to make a lumber this week, but that's a "maybe" more than anything else.
December 18, 20232 yr Popular Post We had our family Christmas Saturday and had a great time. Everyone enjoyed the things I made this year. My week should be peaceful and I may get the mess in the shop squared away. Edited December 18, 20232 yr by HandyDan

December 18, 20232 yr Popular Post Back has been glued to the case...and, after all the fighting that took place just doing that....will wait until Tuesday to start on the 2 drawers... Christmas shopping was easy.....bought a Gift Card for each....and let them decide what they want to buy.... My other "Shopping Trip" will be in January with a road trip to a few Antique Malls I know about....
December 18, 20232 yr Popular Post Photos? Back panel, being glued in place..the spacer bar I needed to cut to length? Will yank that out, tomorrow...also, the corners have been cleaned up... Not too hateful?
December 18, 20232 yr My Dewalt Scroll saw's in the repair shop for God knows how long. So, it's bandsaw boxes for awhile. Got one almost ready for glue. Think I'll try my hand next at that one that looks like it's cracked down the middle. Just got back from a run to the hardware store for some acetone to remove double stick tape residue. Since my Dewalt planer is also on the blink...won't lower anay farther than about 1.5" from the bed...I have to double stick the work to a carrier board that's 2" thick. Dewalt ain't treating me so good.
December 18, 20232 yr Popular Post The Polish Eagles are flying. 10 more went out today and have to try to get out the last 5 in time for Xmas. Puts me somewhere around 900 of those thiings sold, in various sizes and shades, in total so far - as well as other things. Some people just have to wait til tomorrow to order and have it delivered yesterday. God Bless UPS. Lol
December 18, 20232 yr Popular Post went out to lunch with a dear friend, good food, good visit, good excuse to get out of the house. and by the time i got home, the desire to clean up the shop had thankfully passed. phew. but it still lurks out there, maybe tomorrow it will get me.....
December 19, 20232 yr Popular Post Delivered this years gifts from the shop ( you have to go to Turning forum to see) this morning as well as 4 other errand stops. Was not as bad as it sounds, hardly any lines at wally world so that was good. This afternoon started straightening the shop up. Got some of my new wood off the shop floor and started turning some of it. Been a pretty good day.
December 19, 20232 yr Popular Post Stopped by to visit with @HandyDan yesterday, good coffee & conversation. Dan gifted Patti & my daughters a mouse ornament for their tree, I'm sure they will love it. Always good to share some time with you Dan. The baking is done and now we wait for Saturday to start prepping for Christmas eve dinner. 18 hours ago, Larry Buskirk said: Thursday but does it matter? One day closer to spring
December 19, 20232 yr Popular Post Three mirrors have been sandblasted and painted, hope to pick up last mirror from the shop today. It had been cut to the wrong size last week so it was a re-do. Last design work I (we with son's help) should finish up today and get the vinyl cut. Time to start assembling the painted mirrors today while it is cold & windy.
