Some puzzle parts need refinement. Then, start on a "Tee Time" golf clock pattern for my sister. She manages a city course in IL.

  • Getting ready for a family picnic this weekend.  Staying in out of the heat as much as possible.

It’s so hot…

how hot is it??

I went to read Fahrenheit 451, and it caught fire.

Just ordered  a linear actuator that I think I can use to add to my adjustable angle clamping fixture on my CNC. Won't be here until Monday but have to make a few changes to the base I have the CNC on to provide a mounting place for it.  Been drawing up side views to figure out mounting points and account for the travel length of the actuator based on it's specs.  The fixture has hard limits at 90 degree down (vertical) and horizontal and I can't allow the actuator to push past either limit.

I  can get this one to work with just a momentary up/down switch I may spend (alot) more money on one with feedback and see if I can program it with an Arduino board.  Because the fixture rotates through an arc the movement (push/pull) isn't linear for setting the angle, but I think I can figure out the math needed to account for that.  Ideally I want a fixture I can set an angle for and watch it move to precisely that angle.  Might have to consult one of my math teacher sisters.

It was 102 at 7:00pm here. Windy enough that I call that blast furnace conditions.  Made the mistake of leaving a carton of ice cream I bought in the back seat of my car.  I wasn't so upset about the melted mess, but rather that I still didn't have any ice cream to eat after making a trip just to pick some up.  Grrrr.

That ought to be a fun day Mike, take a mess of pics for us :)

Headed north this morning, Julie & I are  going up to Atlanta to look at a townhouse our daughter has made an offer on.  She (daughter) asked that I bring a tape measure and note pad... generally that means she plans to ask for some shop time... for me :D

I am closing in on the upper cabinets in the garage.  A few last trim pieces were cut and painted yesterday.  I may see them installed Sunday PM or Monday.  I got a few minutes to work on the base cabinets also.  All drawers have been fitted and faces attached.

Had some sort of a "nerve block" on my knee that's been giving me problems for a while.  Precursor to a potential knee replacement in the fall.  So mostly taking it easy.  Went out this afternoon to pick up a pickup full of boxes of box parts from a late club member's family to finish up for Children's Hospital.   Monday going to the Ohio State Fair to judge 4-H woodworking.  Always an amazing time seeing what those kids build.  And of course the obligatory ice cream treat at the dairy building.

I haven't been to the fair in quite a few years, but when I was a regular there one of my favorite things was looking at what some f the kids had made....both woodworking and metal working (some absolutely talented welders for yougsters).  BTW, any idea on how long the recovery will be for the knee? I keep putting off a should replacement since I'm the only driver in the house.

:ChinScratch: Been doing the same since 1989. They won't guarantee I'd still have the range of motion that I have now. <_<

Thanks Cal, it was one of Bruces "Curb Shopping" finds.

Did a little research, and it appears that Larkin would give customers different pieces of furniture with a $10.00 purchase of their soap assortment.

I also found photos of two styles of this "Sewing Desk".

The other style doesn't have the center mullion in the paneled back, and sides, or the locks in the drawers.

Recovery not as bad as you might think. I had two weeks in home PT and 4 weeks in clinic. Almost 5 months before climbing steps with little to no pain. Going on seven months now . Still some pain but stiff every morning and still doing exercises daily but do take a day off about once a week sometime two days. Now looking to get the right done in January . Not looking forward to doing rehab but when you can't walk without a limp or pain it is worth it.

Depending on which knee could be back driving in 2 -6 weeks , but everyone's recovery is different.

Thanks everyone for looking in.

This bowl started out just a little bit ago I have been kind of rushing it to get it ready for a couple of opportunities to get some of this stuff into some high rollin' high traffic galleries .

i have some stuff in a couple of small galleries but no real action there. When this is done I will have 7 examples to use as bait.

My next project arrived today, 20 board feet of 4/4 red oak that i am going to try to coerce into a tensegrity table and matching wall shelf.

Can't wait to start cuttin' into that stuff, looks mighty pretty just in the shipping wrap.

Thanks again for looking at my post.

calabrese55

Finished the bowl this week, today I took it to a gallery in a popular tourist attraction and a fine gallery there along with three other bowls.

The commission is a little high but it is a quality place and the traffic is very high keeping my fingers crossed.

Measures 14 1/2 inches diameter x 4 inches high curly maple and bloodwood 4 coats of Minwax wipe on  medium gloss.

here is the gallery http://www.skaneatelesartisans.com
