July 28, 20232 yr Popular Post Friday Folks, Not much going on here other than trying to survive the heat, humidity, and air quality alerts. With that being said, what's on your weekend agenda?
July 28, 20232 yr Popular Post Some puzzle parts need refinement. Then, start on a "Tee Time" golf clock pattern for my sister. She manages a city course in IL.
July 28, 20232 yr Popular Post Getting ready for a family picnic this weekend. Staying in out of the heat as much as possible.
July 28, 20232 yr Popular Post one of the guys at the range, his parents are moving, and the garage has a mess of lumber that would otherwise get tossed in the dump. so he contacted me, after being told who to talk to, i visited, and took home a mess of good lumber. lot of 2x stock (most 2x12). most of which was too long to transport safely, so i cut them down to 4-5 feet or so. the sheet stock will be made into 2 new dump boxes, and the 2x stock will get recut into target sticks. started that yesterday, can only take doing that for so long in the heat, so i'll do some more today. the range provides target sticks for general use (the match target sticks are kept separate and locked up), so when i get them all done, i'll bring them to the range and toss the shot up older ones.
July 28, 20232 yr Popular Post Warden has been pretty lenient this week with the heat. Parole hearing will be this weekend. Took her to Boliertown yesterday for a doctor appointment, then out for coffee, later picked up SIL for lunch. We then went to a Medical Equipment Supply and test drove new power lift chairs. I've narrowed mine down. Due to time constraints need another trip for her. Wowser though, not cheap. Shop time or any other outside activity will be minimal at best due to the heat. Hit 115° heat index yesterday. Forecast for later today expected to be similar, although early morning thunderstorms did cool things down plus left over an inch of rain. To all, watch the heat and stay hydrated. Take plenty of rest breaks.
July 28, 20232 yr Popular Post Customer asked me if it was hot in shop. Yeah, I am cooking stew in my shorts how's that work for ya?
July 28, 20232 yr Popular Post Saturday, a Road Trip to Lost Art Press, seems they are having an Open House! Yes, I will be taking my camera along.... Might get a little bit of work done, in the shop.... 87 HUMID degrees outside....A/C Unit is set at 68 degrees....have 3 Lagers chilling out in the Fridge, right now.
July 28, 20232 yr Popular Post Temp hit 100 yesterday for the first time since 2019 and the same today. Almost done on lacquer for cups and trays. Will glue leather into trays and check lacquer on cups oh and buff both out. Gotta take son to airport shortly for a trip to Vegas. Sure has been quiet here lately. Guess everyone on vacation. July 28, 20232 yr Popular Post Planning on being at the beach for low tide tonight/tomorrow morning. 2:46 am, not sure if that’s night or morning. Still ain’t found any gold this year, though 2 rings I’ve found are gold plated. Only other plans for the weekend is my weekend sundae, and staying outta the heat.
July 28, 20232 yr Popular Post Thanks everyone for looking in. This bowl started out just a little bit ago I have been kind of rushing it to get it ready for a couple of opportunities to get some of this stuff into some high rollin' high traffic galleries . i have some stuff in a couple of small galleries but no real action there. When this is done I will have 7 examples to use as bait. My next project arrived today, 20 board feet of 4/4 red oak that i am going to try to coerce into a tensegrity table and matching wall shelf. Can't wait to start cuttin' into that stuff, looks mighty pretty just in the shipping wrap. Thanks again for looking at my post. calabrese55
