Those are good looking boards. I'll share a tip I learned when I visited an Amama colony that made furniture many years back. Their wise and experienced top craftsman made a point to show me a dining table top he had just glued up. The large walnut panel was made from 2" wide strips. Every other strip had been flipped over. He explained that their furniture was guaranteed for 50 years and this was the best strategy to keep the table tops stable with no bowing or cupping or rippling no matter what conditions (humid or dry or hot or cold) it may encounter over 50 years. I adopted that strategy and shared it with my students for a few hundred projects out there that may fail for other reasons but not for a bowing/cupping panel. 4D Report

Is canary wood expensive ? I do not think I have ever seen it around here. Report

I got three boards 10 Ft long one inch thick 2 of them 9.25 inch wide and another 7.25 inch wide for 298 from a mill. Whereas I got this slab on sale in Charlotte that is 6/4 for 99.00. It is 4ft by 14 1/2. this is my first time working with it but everyone I talk to enjoys working with it. I’ll give ya my opinion when I am done. Lol Report

Great job! 4D I liked working with it. The sand dust from sanding was kinda clumpy almost like a ‘wet’ feel. It almost has a unique smell. I would def be using it again! Report
July 18, 20233 yr comment_317801 Now I'm curious how easy/hard it would be on router bits or saw blades to cut. Wood with high mineral content that look fantastic can be abrasive to tools. 4D Report
