April 28, 20233 yr Popular Post Happy Friday Folks! Here "Two Weeks From Anywhere" I started the first mowing of the season yesterday, got about halfway done. Will be trying to get the other half done today before the next three days of forecast for our area. If I don't get it done, I'm sure it will still be there next Wednesday. That leaves the BIG question, "What's on Your Weekend Agenda"?
April 28, 20233 yr Popular Post Nothing new, big, or exciting in my shop. Just piddling around, cleaning work areas and putting tools away. Hope to get back to the scroll saw soon in earnest. But, first I need to prepare some stock to cut. Lotta scrap to use up. Mostly walnut.
April 28, 20233 yr Popular Post Nothing planned. It may be a wet one so the shop is the best dry place I can think to spend it.
April 28, 20233 yr Popular Post On and off showers for the next several days, maybe will have an opportunity to get to the lathe.
April 28, 20233 yr Popular Post Like Larry, had hoped to finish mowing today but light rain during the night and most of this morning coupled with no sunshine has stopped that for the weekend. A few domestic duties to help out the Mrs. today. Schedule conflicts tomorrow requires me to transport oldest grandson to his two AAU basketball games in the morning. Sunday, regular church responsibilities. Hoping to get some garage time in during the off-peak demands. A positive for the end of another month, we gained another 1:18 of daylight.
April 28, 20233 yr Popular Post Cuttin grass, planted seed a month ago, trying to regrow what our German Shepard turned into a mud pit with her constant running around in the backyard, so we cordoned off the damaged area, stuck her in a patio area where she can't access the grass, and the seed has sprung and we have a ton of grass after all those rains! We are heading out the door to meet our daughter for lunch, she is transferring jobs and this is her last day, so we are buying her lunch. Son is at Jury Duty, and our youngest girl still in Ft. Stewart GA, worked hard and got her NCO stripes, she's officially SGT Morris! E-5. Family is doing well, and I may have time in the shop this weekend, things just keep popping up, soon I am going to have to put a moratorium on "things popping up" and just tell the world, I can't, so I can get back into the shop and do the fun stuff in life.
April 28, 20233 yr Popular Post Off on a mission trip to eastern KY to do some repair from storm damage.
April 28, 20233 yr Popular Post Just turning in shop till I get distracted and go off on a tangent to rearrange something so (I think) it will be more efficient.

Got everything mowed, put up and in the door at 9:15P. I'm 99% sure I passed another KS...rough going out there for a couple hours. Feel much better now.

April 29, 20233 yr Popular Post @John Morris - Congrats to the young ones' successes! Fort Stewart is just outside of Savannah, I hope that Sgt Morris is able to enjoy some of that area. Historic Savannah is beautiful. I've a busy weekend. Mowed the lawn yesterday; while rain threatened, it held off. Oh yeah, had a doc appt. yesterday morning - 2nd of the week - both visits were a-ok After the lawn cleanup I got the upper cabinets face frames attached. On to doors this morning. Later today our daughter will be coming in for a visit. I will have to quit early today as daughter, my sister & bil and I are going out for birthday supper and a play. Maybe by the end of the weekend I will have the doors made, fitted and in the paint booth. Or maybe not...

Historic Savannah is beautiful. Cal, she has, and enjoyed it a ton. She's been there for a year and a half I think, going on two years anyway, and she's had a chance to to get to know Savannah pretty good. She liked it a ton. We were going to fly down and meet her in a few weeks and visit Savannah, but things popped up, I had to take some time off from work and now I don't have the hours to cover our planned vacation in mid May, I'm trying to get mama to go down without me, she can at least go and hang out with our daughter and have some fun but she won't. I was hoping to see Savannah myself, but there is always a next time!

It is indeed beautiful. We set up camp on Tybee. Took a tour of the old city in a horse drawn carriage. The guide/driver was very knowledgeable, humorous and quite interesting. For instance, we learned that Spanish moss isn't Spanish and it ain't moss. During the civil war, the locals advised the occupying Union troops to use Spanish moss as mattress material. Seems that the 'moss' harbors Chiggers and other mites. The Rebs didn't want those northern invaders to rest easy.

I do hope you get a chance to visit while your daughter is there, and just up the road is Charleston, SC. Both places offer beautiful and historic areas - right up your alley! 23 hours ago, Gene Howe said: Took a tour of the old city in a horse drawn carriage. I've known them to embellish the story and sort of make up facts on the spot! They want to sell to the audience and they are very good at it...
