We set up camp on Tybee It think '08 was the last time we were there Gene. Were you the guy I saw walking on Bay St. with the handkerchief on your head? Both places offer beautiful and historic areas - right up your alley! Agreed. Slightly over an hours drive North with an amazing and beautiful scenic drive up Highway 17. Another town to visit is Beaufort, SC. A quaint little city We alternated vacations for a number of years between staying in Savannah and Charleston. Great architecture to see, awesome food, and some of the most friendly, helpful and engaging people I've ever encountered. Of all the places we've vacationed, Savannah rates #1 IMHO, but closely followed by Charleston. If one gets near Charleston, you have to take in a tour of the USS Yorktown. Also the harbor view there...lots of $$$$$$$'s in high end yachts and sailboats. Back in the early 2000's, Tybee Island was like taking a step back in time. Much more developed today though. Loved our beach time there. Quite common for dolphins to swim close appeasing their curiosity of humans in their house. And if you have a need to visit Harbor Freight, there used to be a quite elegant version in a "mall" on Hilton Head, SC. First H-F I was ever in. It cost me though; my wife and daughter were visiting several boutiques in the same "mall." My purchases at H-F =$0...theirs = $$$.00. I'm still trying to catch up with them on that one.

We seen it on display in Columbia, SC not long after it had been discovered, but that's been quite a few years.
