During the past 20 years Robin Wood has produced and sold over 30,000 wooden plates and bowls from his small workshop nestled into a Peak District hillside. Creating items for everyday use and making a living from his work as a craftsman is a fundamental principle underpinning Robin's working lifestyle. He seems very happy with the path he has chosen but his activities are not restricted to wood turning. Robin is also Chairman of the Heritage Craft Association heritagecrafts.org.uk, is featured in many television craft programmes, and shares his skills and knowledge with others by running classes in bowl turning and spoon carving.

I took the day off on Saturday.  Weather cleared and I attended a car show.  A beautiful late spring day, lots of cars, several food trucks to choose from, and a lot of old acquaintances I haven't seen in quite awhile.

Working on upper cabinets now.  Four carcasses assembled, two partially so and face frame parts for all six cut to size.  Today may be my best shot at getting a full day in the shop, poly to apply to the two back panels; milling, sanding, prime ff.  Rest of the week seems to be full of errands, couple doc appointments - checkups, grocery run, service appointment (if I can get one) for the Kia, begin working on a eulogy for brother in law, sister is getting her garage floor professionally "painted" - I hope to get down there while the crew is working to see it in progress, I am toying with having the same done.  Oh yeah, rain forecast for Wednesday - that would mean an all day affair of yard work on Thursday.  So, not a lot of shop time but I am at the point that I can be working here and there on them as time permits.

Made a few more awls over the weekend.  The shop needs sweeping.  Been needing it for a few weeks.

Did the epoxy coating last fall.  I was anxious to see how it reacted to the northeast winters.  It still looks like new after cleanup with a hose and garage broom.

No woodworking projects in my immediate future - we're packing up the house and leaving the nanNY state (and the nut-case governor) behind.

House sold in a week for $15K over ask - glad someone wants to be here.  Making SC our permanent residence.

Good for you all Jim. Hope the move goes well and safe. Where 'bouts in S.C.?

Yard clean-up, again and mowing as weather permits. Imagine there is at least one soccer match scheduled?? A couple of meetings at church. Numerous errands that I've kept putting off need done. Haircut time, Wednesday. List of to-dos keep growing...get-up and go seems to be stunted.

That looks great Jim.  Was this a product that you put down, or a pro job?

I've been watching a bunch of YouTubes and reading up on my options.

@Cal I did it as a DIY project and saw the YTs also .  The final choice was Armorpoxy   https://armorpoxy.com/commercial/auto-shop-flooring/.  There's usually a coupon available on the garage journal forum.

It claimed to have widespread commercial and military use.  Our floor was 7 years old and had some oil stains from the old car and my carelessness.  So I went with the recommended primer and the military grade top coat.  In for a penny, in for a pound.

I did half the floor at a time, which added to the down time.  The longest part was waiting for the floor to dry out completely after pressure washing.   The steepest learning curve for me was getting the decorative flakes spread evenly.  There is a fairly short work time with the color layer of epoxy, and you have to get the flakes applied before it sets up.  Also, the flakes do give it some slip resistance, but I also used the non skid product with the top coat.

I had watched a neighbor prep and paint his driveway with a water based product.  After all that work, it peeled off in a year.

If I can do it, anyone can.  Best of luck.

unknown to me until recently, i think the older ladies of the church have been talking about me.

background:  last November i finally found a Bible believing church and have been attending regularly since then.  by chance, i ended up sitting near a lady who also tends to sit in the same place each week, so we've gotten to know a bit about one another over time.  she asked what i've been up to, so i showed her some of my woodworking pics from recent projects.  ooohhh.....nice.   so i made her a small walnut bowl.  some time later, she visits my house and shop, and we have a nice chat over coffee (decaf).  showed her all the stuff around the house i've made over time.

this past sunday, she mentioned that she had a good many hour visit that past friday with some other ladies from the church.  women talk.  i think i was mentioned at some point.

after the sunday service, they had a slight break and then a 10 min presentation on the finances of the church.  that interested me, so i stuck around.  all of a sudden, this little wisp of a woman (older than me) appears behind me and inquires if i'd be able to help her with some 'handy man' type things.  sure.

so after tomorrow's morning prayer meeting, which we were both at last week, i'll follow her back to her condo (near Lowes) and scope out what she wants done.  simple things like new blinds, weather stripping around doors were mentioned.  sure, i know how to do that stuff.

and she said she'll pay me.

nope, this is something i'd do out of Christian love.

the so called good Samaritan didn't send the man a bill or expect repayment, he did what he did because it needed to be done, and he could do it.  who is your neighbor?  he who has a need.

i'll pack a few tools tomorrow, no point in going back across town if i can toss them in the car tonight.

i'll fix you up lady.

That happened to me after we built our detached garage.  I had used a high dollar epoxy and it sure was disappointing to watch it flake off :(

Thanks for the info and encouragement.
