April 15, 20233 yr Popular Post Finally moving into a new shop. I am moving out of the small blue building into the large building with the red roof. It is going to be a long process but well worth it.
April 15, 20233 yr Popular Post That's awesome Rusty. Green like your grass with envy. Looks like maybe 24'x36'? Concrete floor? Of course we'll need move update progress pictures.
April 15, 20233 yr Popular Post A big congrats, and you're right....it will be a log process but well worth it. Enjoy!
April 16, 20233 yr Author Popular Post The wife and I went through the storage shelves today and got rid of a lot. I am going to build a room inside at the back that will be 24 feet wide and 6 feet deep. That will allow us to keep ten storage shelves and a cloths rack for her seasonal clothes. Then I will build a small room for my air compressor and dust collector. That will still give me twice as much as I have now.
April 16, 20233 yr Looks nearly full already Rusty, shuda built it bigger! 9 hours ago, RustyFN said: Then I will build a small room for my air compressor and dust collector. I did this same thing and wish I hadn't. When the a/c is working a lot it will heat up the room (5x10 or 6x10) even with the door open. When the room heats up it starts pumping a lot of water. This isn't so much a problem while woodworking, but when I was doing auto body and today if I have a bunch of sand blasting to do it is. I deal with it by having installed a fan in the ceiling to bring in fresh air into the compressor room, installed a water trap and Motor toilet paper filter at the end of the line and even used disposable filters at the paint gun. I've made do, but wished I had just poured a slab on the side of the garage and extended the roof. YMMV

It is a quiet one so it doesn’t really bother me now only being five feet from my lathe. The dust collection will definitely have its own room.
April 21, 20233 yr Author I installed enough insulation and plastic for vapor barrier to be able to put up enough OSB to build the storage room.
April 24, 20233 yr Author Popular Post My buddy came over today. We got the first 8 feet of ceiling up and the storage room wall built.
April 25, 20233 yr Great progress Rusty. You've probably already planned for it, but I'd make sure the door to the storage rooms swings out into the larger space.
April 25, 20233 yr Popular Post Running out of room already. Maybe the bicycles and kyacks could go back to the old shop

I want to get the ceiling done and paint the walls and ceiling white. Then I will start the electrical. It will all be done on the surface with EMT and cast boxes.
