Friday again folks. ;)

Here "Two Weeks From Anywhere" it's a frigid Friday. We got a little over 6.5" of that stuff you've got to shovel. :(

So while I wait for it to get light enough to see so I can go out and shovel. <_<

What's on Your Weekend Agenda?

Will be just cold here, Larry.  I got roped into building a kitchen side cabinet for a classmate of mine.  Nothing too fancy.  Poplar carcass, 1 1/2 cherry top with raised panel doors.  She wants is painted gray to accent the cherry top that I advised against.  Oh well.

Have a big circuit (for me) to drive.

Truck is loaded with the wardrobe and ready to pull out when it stops raining and drys off a bit, maybe before lunch.  First stop, Atlanta (2+ hours)  to drop off a new drawer slide for that dresser I built and delivered.  I had broken one of the soft close plastic retraction gizmos.  I have a new one in the truck and will either drop it off, or take the few minutes it takes to change it out.  Daughter will be working so no visiting to be done.  From there to the mall of Georgia area Lowe's (1 hour+/-).  I need a replacement light bulb and there is not a close Lowe's to me that carrys it.  That store may have it and it is not far out of the way to our next stop.  Which will be in Athens.  Athens (2 hr. +/-) will be our destination for today.  Unload the wardrobe, and then unwind and spend the night with friends.  Saturday Julie & I want to go to a Kia dealer in Athens to look at a car but most of the day will be spent doing whatever and visiting.  Supposed to be cold, so not sure what we will get into.  And then Sunday AM the trip home (2+ hours), grab lunch and then meet my sister & BIL who have tickets for us to attend a play with them.  That afternoon running will be another 1-1.5 hours in the truck...

Between Kia, and Hyundai most stolen cars in this area. Insurers are now refusing to cover them.

From what I understand, that was a problem up to a couple years ago and the newer models don't have this problem.  I think I also read that there is now a fix for the older models, not sure who will cover the cost though!

I actually called my insurance agent yesterday to check the rates on a couple different models, no concerns by them.

I might start a separate thread on this whole car buying experience.  It's been over 40 years since I bought a new car, and boy howdy have things changed!

There was a guy on one of the Milwaukee news channels that has had his 2022 stolen twice in the past month, his insurance paid off and then dropped his coverage. He stated that he's called several insurance companies trying to get coverage and said they basically told him good luck. Forgot to mention he said the one company that would offer coverage wanted over $350.00/Month.

That's my understanding as well, the newer don't have the same problem. Of course that doesn't mean that some genius who frequents Tik-tok can't tell the difference between model years. But the newer models are supposed to be reasonably theft proof.

As for me, I had mentioned last Sept. we had to have our little dog put to sleep. Normally we would wait quite a few years to heal before getting another one. But at our age that isn't realistic, so yesterday we adopted another dog to fill the emptiness in the house. Today I'll be trying to get everything established for her as well as setting up appointments for here  care.

I have no agenda now for this weekend. I just tested positive for covid. The Missus had it last summer, somehow I managed to avoid it then. Working in the schools and library makes me a highly exposed person, illness wise. Waiting on Doc to call me back and tell me how we’re gonna handle this. So I’m a lump in the easy chair, parked in front of the screen.

I thought so also, but the news has shown that they must be using some type of electronics device to overcome whatever system they're using.

The news showed a recovered stolen car where the thieves left what looked like a USB cable hanging from the ignition when fleeing the wrecked car.

There's a group (Gang?) in Milwaukee they call "The Kia Boys" that steal the cars for "Joy Rides" that more times than not leave the vehicles wrecked or damaged in one form or another. If they didn't wreck the car the owners (Insurance?) is left with around $1200.00 worth of damage to repair the damage done repairing the ignition according to one of the victims interviewed.

Monthly church men's breakfast tomorrow morning. Run a few errands after. Sunday church responsibilities. Shop closed again due to climate change.

Sunday afternoon youngest grandsons travel league basketball games. They finally lost one of two last weekend. After trading back-to-back 3's, opposing team drained another trey. His team last second three bounced off the rim. BTW, these kids are 7 & 8 y/o. First loss to this team; 2-1 against them since last November with two previous wins on last second shots winning by 2 & 1 point respectively. Grandson's team still on top of the 7/8 y/o league with only 2 losses.

Hey @Artie, hoping for a quick recovery from the covid. Take care.

Another weekend already?  I was actually looking forward to being snowbound thanks to the expected blizzard that had schools closing and such.   Didn't do more than dust my driveway and temps have already melted away any snow scraps that persisted.  Boring!    A few years back I bought an electric snow blower.  Haven't had a reason to use it this year.

Shop plans are iffy.  Need to put some finish on the tool bench I made for the Taig mini mill.  Need to hear from Taigtools if they've shipped it or not.  Need to put up some form of window blind on the one window in my utility room.   Need to throw away much more of the unused crap I've accumulated since buying this house.

I hope you have a quick recovery and no longing symptoms.  Take care.   Danl

I my area, replacement parts are hard to find because of the recent high demand.  Then now have the FBI involved.
