Ed-H Posted January 8, 2023 Report Posted January 8, 2023 I have acquired this old Goodell Pratt #7 breast drill. Obviously it needs some restoration. Problem is ... it still has a remnant of the original decal, and i would like to either retain it, or better ... replace it. I have searched the web, no luck, and i have posted the question on other forums. Does anyone know where i can find a replacement decal? The rusted picture is my too, the clean ones are clips off ebay. Cal, steven newman, lew and 1 other 4 Quote

Popular Post Larry Buskirk Posted January 8, 2023 Popular Post Report Posted January 8, 2023 That's the early (1890's era) decal, the only ones I found are from the 1930's. Two different sizes available on ebay of the 1930's decal. One is the 3 1/2" version. https://www.ebay.com/itm/392556702263?hash=item5b6633ea37:g:lMoAAOSwdOxd3buw&amdata=enc%3AAQAHAAAAoIGl6e%2BTu4bFzagKbEGkRUVedYfoT4cmBqA1qg7B2hFx%2BnBj2sip5PcgFi7QIB2nUlIAbWPqTb2obSDPLppnJ%2FdRfkibSGltHwrhcrCe3lyVN0m%2FO2GgEfhZiP3%2FmKFUY%2B9RxXAHapvfbkaAPPNrA6AC9pBI%2BWMVTauCoNe8WIcVCYyLs3kBrMtSD%2FaWy3vjUyeEZ7k5XAkZzaCoaGvGMS0%3D|tkp%3ABk9SR9Dl95OyYQ The other is the 1 3/8" version. https://www.ebay.com/itm/153800306564?hash=item23cf366f84:g:goUAAOSwzkReIh7b&amdata=enc%3AAQAHAAAAoNho6YQfvcfd9urzhrJH6X3IPgSeeo08GTyD4UJAzO1EXrVFbxgySiZJ9XXAUhe3%2Fe%2BK%2FgdpPQwZ9IwvkI%2FVXnAGhYSbBZ1DacUjrBzsLrbiQC8jw60gWSkbkry7zv5vBrEPbP1l%2BX%2FBlxsq1U5viEtrjUUag63rX%2FKVLZW%2FmnNuI2e2UkP8wc8Lt87svvrxNIn6i46UFAhzUdJkx2q6KwE%3D|tkp%3ABk9SR9Dl95OyYQ There is also the downloadable decal image on the Vintage Machinery website which can be sized. http://wiki.vintagemachinery.org/Decals-Goodell-Pratt.ashx There are also online services that offer decal reproductions that can use your supplied photos to create a vector decal image. I'm not sure what they charge. Another alternative is to recreate the image yourself using software such as GIMP (Linux based but there is a Windows version available for free download) or most any photo editing software. lew, Cal, Grandpadave52 and 2 others 4 1 Quote
Ed-H Posted January 8, 2023 Author Report Posted January 8, 2023 Thanks for trying Larry. I will probably try to photoshop one of the better images. You said it’s the early style. Do you know when it was changed? Cal, Grandpadave52 and steven newman 3 Quote
John Morris Posted January 8, 2023 Report Posted January 8, 2023 While looking through some old images of this drill, and seeing them completely restored, and other Pratt's fully restored, like the single wood handle with brass ferule, man they look nice! I may be hooked! steven newman, Cal and Grandpadave52 2 1 Quote
Larry Buskirk Posted January 8, 2023 Report Posted January 8, 2023 @Ed-H From what I could find the decal like yours was used from the mid 1880's to around 1915. It's possible that it's not a decal, but a silk screened image. Cal, steven newman, Gerald and 1 other 4 Quote

Grandpadave52 Posted January 9, 2023 Report Posted January 9, 2023 Missed this thread @Ed-H. Sweet find. Sorry no help on your request; tough one. I jdid just purchase off the bay a mixed size set of Dunlap re-prints. Supposed to be here Wednesday. Hadn't considered @Larry Buskirkthoughts on being silk screened but good possibility considering the age. Following this journey along. Cal, Larry Buskirk and steven newman 3 Quote
