Christmas Eve Eve Folks, hope everyone is staying warm.

Here "Two Weeks From Anywhere" we had plans to go to my brothers, but with temps below zero were putting it off till next weekend.

We're in a Sub-Arctic Heat Wave. :Hot: It's currently -10° with a real feel of -36° here. <_<

So, What's on Your Weekend Agenda?

Our son & bride came in yesterday afternoon, I think they must have dragged some of that cold & wind down (from OH) with them!  Hunkered down this morning taking shelter from the storm.  Don't see me doing much other than visiting for a few days :D

Cold front moving through.  Down to 16 here this morning with gusty winds.  Forecasted to continue through Sunday.  I think I need to move closer to the Equator.  :)  BBBBBBRRRRrrrrrrrrr

Daughter is coming for a short visit and should arrive tomorrow.  Will be helping Mrs. Boss with a pile of unwrapped gifts.  Shop time later in the week.  Took out a classified print ad that will run next week looking for an upright freezer carcass to make a drying box.  Struck out on the online avenues so far.

Week has been busy preparing for this winter storm as well as Christmas. Attended my step-brothers funeral service yesterday. Nice memorial. Honor Guard tribute was excellent. Later, wrapped up some last minute shopping, then my youngest step-brother, niece and I visited my step-dad in the nursing home. Step-dads age, health and the impending weather prevented him from attending the funeral. Good visit considering the circumstances.

Today will be maintenance mode. Same tomorrow as weather won't improve much. Current temp is -9° with wind chill of -37°. Fortunately we didn't get much snow. Tomorrow night, candlelight, communion service is still planned at church. Sunday morning we have a modified service planned. Family Christmas will be at daughter's/SIL's.

To all here who have been impacted by the severe winter weather already as well as those in the current path, take care, and be safe.

Going to my brothers tomorrow for dinner.  An old friend has a brunch planned for Christmas morning.  Busy busy but the fun kind of busy.

After light rain most of the day Thursday, the cold hit overnight.  -7 this morning and the power is flickering off and on about every 20 minutes.   The heat pump is having a hard time keeping up.  Don't really want to be doing any power tool work with intermittent power.  Thankfully, the daughter's family from UP made it to Columbus yesterday to visit her husband's family.  There's a big traffic jam across the river on I75.  The jr reporter "the weather watch team" sends out said she'd moved about 150 yards in the last 3 hours.

@kmealy Hope the power holds up.

I've got two electric/oil radiator heaters and the wood burner going trying to give our furnace a break.

We've warmed up to -4° RF -28°.

Too bloody cold and windy to even think about going out that door, today....Not so much  the snow...as most has been blown away into drifts.

Currently at -6..not counting the wind chill..

Just finished up a steaming bowl of Pho-Bo, with beef and rice added in...Maybe have a cuppa later?     Irish Black Tea  with Ryan's Irish creamer?

Out here in the desert it looks like we are kind of skipping the big winter freeze you guys are getting, so I have zero excuses not to be out in the shop working on stuff.

Progress has been made on the tool wall and there is a new clamp rack.  Things are starting to come together in something resembling organization which is kind of nice.

I need to continue to put stuff away and work on other elements of the shop as the opportunity presents itself.

One of the next things on the list is going to be a sharpening station and some other quality of life additions here and there.

Youngest stepbrother finally got in the air about 8P EST. His flight from Indy to Orlando was delayed 3x. Original departure time was 3:15P. At least his wasnt canceled. Good news when he arrives in Orlando it should be low 60's; that's temperature not wind speed. He lives near Melborne about an hour from Orlando. Should have escorted him back home. Doubtful if I would've fit in the overhead bin though.

update at 11P EST. just got a text. He didn't get in the air from Indy until 9P...just landed in Orlando...long day for him. Fortunately the Base is closed for active flights through Monday. Yesterday was a difficult day for him.

Low last night 12, high today 22 (yes Dave a heatwave) , low tonight 15. Wind was so bad last night that there were 19,000 with out power in the state. Understand it was worse in northeast part of state.

Finally got started on a couple drawers in wheeled stand to keep sandpaper at the lathe. Gonna be a quiet weekend oldest son could not get off and youngest working tomorrow.

Temp is now 27 and dropping fast. After all the rain it's snowing now. Looks like we'll have a white christmas.

not surprising but the temps here were about the same Larry. I've been in the shop getting some lazy susans and cribbage boards sanded and urethaned. I've unfortunately discovered that things that are round or oval do not fare well in the dry winter heat of our shop and split from shrinkage unless I have at least two coats of finish on them. A fellow woodworker is gearing up to move his shop come spring, so he sold me his over-stock lumber and gave me all his short stock. So now I'm sorting and prepping all these to laminate into products. It's all part of my plan to clean up the shop and make a bunch of inventory to ease next year's workload. Tomorrow night we get together with my wife's family for Christmas. Sunday I'll watch some football and then hit the shop because I just can't sit still for more than a few minutes.

Our 2 boys got 17 ea. 80 lb bags of cement mixed and poured for the 20' of track and for the motor base for the electric gate opener . Our Christmas present from them. The trenches are dug and the PVC pipe is in for the wiring. The wire not pulled, yet. Probably finish the job after Christmas. The concrete needs to cure a week, or so, before track anchors and motor can be set. In the meantime, we've got some festive red plastic fencing stretched across the opening to keep our dog from terrorizing the neighborhood. As if anyone would be too frightened by that little 25 lb fur ball.

WE Energies requested customers to lower their thermostats to 60-62° last night around 9:00 PM due to an equipment malfunction at an interstate gas pipeline.

The news stated this morning that they're still working on it and are now at about 70% of normal capacity.
