October 14, 20223 yr Popular Post I think it's Friday, @lew's Wednesday on a Thursday topic has me all confused. (Doesn't take much these days.) Here "Two Weeks From Anywhere" I'm still playing catch up. Will be going tomorrow to help a former co-worker take down a big Ash tree that his dad had been trying to save from the Emerald Ash Borers. I'll probably have to make a few trips hauling the wood, the Pilot just doesn't have the tow capacity of the Dodge pickup that I still have to replace the steering box on. Oh yeah, I checked the "Mouse Motel" trap, and paper towels just a few minutes ago, and no "Unwanted Tenants" so I guess I might have that problem solved. Only time will tell. So, What's on Your Weekend Agenda?
October 14, 20223 yr Popular Post I need to mow one last time, but with the high winds we have today it ain't gonna happen. Heck, I can't even burn my burn pile because we are also under a "red flag" warning for fires. Soooo, not sure what will happen.
October 14, 20223 yr Popular Post Talked with the folks over at the "Citizen Collection Center" a.k.a the dump yesterday. They are willing to let me take logs that others have brought for a modest fee $3-$5 depending on size. Most of what I saw was Oak but the pile is mountainous. Plan on going to pick some up later this afternoon. Put my My 2017 Chrysler 300 (Pentastar v6 with 8 speed tranny) in the shop yesterday. It's been eating batteries (3-4 in the last year) and a new check engine light. OBDII code is P1DF3. Still under the extended warranty. Only has 29k miles. Any insight to a problem like this would be much appreciated. While I was at the dealer, I looked at a new pickup they had for sale $81500, I'm not sure about you but that sounds like crazy talk to me. Going to spend some time in the shop as I can. Need to try out my new Hunter Viceroy. I think it will be the perfect tool to refine the inside curve of bowls. .40
October 14, 20223 yr Popular Post Today is shop clean up and organize. 50 grit on Mesquite sure makes a mess. Not to mention the "bark" removal mess. Not done, either. wore out a Skil 3X18 belt sander. 3 squeals and a pop then, nada! Got me a Rigid 3X18. I'll put it to work tomorrow. Probably start with 80 grit. Then it's 100 grit orbital time. I'll stop at 120. After a stain job, it'll get a brushed on coat of bar top epoxy resin. sanding any farther than 120 is overkill. Don't need super smoothness, just rough sanding mark removal. All three of the mesquite rounds boast (?) an approx. 3+" tri-lobal hole in the middle. Debating how to handle it. Fill it with crushed Turquoise and resin, just black resin or, inlay a dog bone/bow tie, or, leave it as a beauty(?) spot. The latter ain't likely. Sunday will be a down day, as will the following Mon-Wed. Out of town guest from OK will be visiting.
October 14, 20223 yr Popular Post Morning to ya...maybe some Joinery later today? Finger IS a bit sore, today. Boss has errands for me to run, again...

Here's a description for P1DF3. https://www.autocodes.com/p1df3_chrysler.html It's probable that the battery problem is causing lost communication codes due to the voltage irregularities. Once that problem is fixed the other codes may require recalibration of the different modules. ( Basically have to tell the modules "Hey Stupid, It's Over There.) Don't know about the eating batteries but my 2000 Ram would drain the battery (Killed 2) after it rained. Found out the voltage regulator is built into the ECM. I went out and checked after a rain and rain had ran down the firewall right into the ECM/electrical connectors. I moved the ECM off the firewall and wire tied it to the air intake tube. No more drained batteries. It's still wire tied in that location.
October 14, 20223 yr Popular Post Three items scratched from the to-do list- stair rails, mold spray on the north side of the house and barrier installed to keep the new puppy in the yard. A walnut log on the front porch is waiting to be cut into bowl blanks and turned for a lady who brought the log.

BTDT Thanks All! Surgery was right at 4 hours. Surgeon and Anesthesiologist both commented how remarkably well he did. All vitals were very good when he got to ICU room. Common practice based on age. He'll be there for next 24 hours. If all goes well, he may be discharged from hospital in 2-3 days to the rehab facility where my wife works. Ironic sorta, his younger sister (91) just went through this about 6 weeks ago. She's doing very well so far with her rehab. Thanks again! Long day.

Some vehicles have one that will control if the light will come on or not when you open the door. It usually also has a setting for it to stay on.
