I use Purolator oil filters because when I worked at K.E.P. the OEM (Chrysler Branded) filters came from Purolator in the economy 300 per shipping pallet/container size. I'm actually using the Purolator One (10,000 mile) filter that is a couple steps above the OEM equivelent.

 

One thing I can say about the full-synthetics is they sure are hard to see on the dipstick when you first put them in. The full-synthetic motor oil is just starting to show a bit of color after 3K miles, and the transmission fluid is still very pale pink.

 

Menards is my go to place around here, they carry both the Valvoline and Purolator products for quite a bit cheaper than Autozone, and they're located about half way between here and Autozone.

More prep on this lumber and the bad news is the bugs on edges was so bad had to cut 1.5 to 2 inches off each side and it is still questionable. Even then is damage in center also. So will be ripping boards and doing more glue up to get result. Maybe use grain filler too. 

 

 

 

tried using my 16-32 to sand larger boards. Til I discovered worse damage than I thought. So ripped the boards and now they fit in planer. That was the end for today. 
 

by the way I have had a belt for sander soaking in Simple Green for over a year and got it out ,rinsed and dried. It worked to clean the belt almost spotless.

 It's the BORG's that are kind of scarce around here, we've got a BBRG just a few blocks from Meynerds but I only go there if I can't find what I'm looking for.

Mine is like the one in this video. Not sure if yours is or maybe newer version with handbrake to lock chain??? Regardless basically same set-up. That's the key, taking time to get it set-up correctly for EACH chain. Once you do, takes no time to correctly sharpen a chain.

 

My tips (1) as video shows, mount to a 2x4. I clamp mine in a Workmate then sit on a 5 gal bucket. (2) good lighting (3) IMO, video guy is grinding too much at once; lighter cuts saves stone since no dresser is provided (4) where he shows putting his thumb on the stop to prevent lift, I pull back slightly on the chain to insure its consistently against the stop, then lock the clamp. (5) After a couple touch-up sharpenings, likely will need to file the rakers; gauges are available at farm stores or even Wally-world to match your chain size. Replacement grinding wheels are available at H-F.

 

I've sharpened dozens of chains with mine getting excellent results. That said, I drew off my experience sharpening hundreds, maybe thousands of chains using a commercial version when I worked in the farm equipment business.

ok, the saw and I had a good chat, we cut a rabbit, then we made some mitered corners, i said good bye, and then the biscuit joiner and I had a little roll in the hay as they say, and lastly, there was some glue to make a mess....this is going to be the biggest frame i've ever made, the picture is 42x50....yikes!  poplar will get painted white later.  the lumber alone was $125....it's for a nice neighbor, so labor and smarts are free.  but first, we had to make the stock double thickness, no skinny wood for this project.
