Mrs. was off work since she worked the weekend. Got some of her projects done;). Quick trip to our small town to fill up lawnmower gas cans. Later, reinstalled the front license plate kit dealer had removed for IDK why:WonderScratch: on her new to us Jeep Grand Cherokee. Didn't like the look of the holes left in the front bumper cover.<_< Spent most of the rest of the afternoon figuring out how to program everything thing. Watched "The House That Norm Built" PBS tribute show to Norm Abram tonight. Well done program.

Tuesday is haircut day, quick stop at Menards, maybe H-F, then Rural King. In between buy lunch for my "little" brother. He turns 66 on the 10th. Later, youngest grandson has a soccer match. Hopefully will get to PU the Trailblazer too????

Rest of week, pick up sticks/limbs, weedeating, mowing, putting stuff away for winter. Maybe some tool refurb in there too.

Whatever all y'all are doing, Safety First. Remember, nothing more important than wearing PPE, and as Norm would say, measure once, and cut twice...or was it measure twice, cut once or perhaps, just keep cutting til it fits or go buy a board that does? IDK, something about measuring, cutting, wearing glasses while reading operators manuals and keep the Yankees out of your shops...all so confusing.

Planning stages of an urn for our dog that we lost last week. Will be very small (she was a 16# dog) and I thought about trying to turn one. But I plan to have someone CNC laser engrave the name, dates, etc on it so I'll be making a flatwork version.

Fred, while I haven't seen any of our members with CNC's do any cylindrical engraving there are CNC's that will do that.  A few years back I farmed out a round urn for engraving.  You might ask your engraver if they can do cylinders, particularly if you were planning for a tapered shape.  I know from etching on glassware that a taper adds a bit more math to the equation (or in my world a bit more trial & error).

It didn't miss me, just a continuance of Saturday when car batteries started heading south. <_<

I had a local trophy company etch a metal plate for those that I made.  Was reasonably priced.

:ChinScratch: Just checked one of my favorite boneyards websites, any battery is $30.00 ($10.00 Core), with a 90 day warranty.

See ya'll in about an hour or so,...:SaluteandRun:

:ChinScratch:Got a 750CCA AC Delco Group 34PGHR (Pilot calls for group 24FA) for $31.50 w/tax.

Terminals are of course reversed, but the cables will reach by simply turning the battery around.

They had one group 24F battery, but it was one of those "Wally World NeverStarts". :WhoMe:

With the way the critters are already acting, I've got a feeling I might just need that extra 130 Amps on them thar cold days.

:DevilLaughing: Had some fun getting back on the interstate, "Cutie" driving a Tesla S wanted to give it a run on the on ramp so I kicked that old Pilot's V-Tec in at about 40 MPH and was bye-bye to 70 MPH crusing speed faster than she could think about it. Man did I get a strange look after she decided to go around me after I set the cruise control.

:P Not to shabby for an old V6 with 276K on it.

Just helped a neighbor install a new doggie door.  well, i did the whole thing, she watched.  the jigsaw wasn't doing the job (metal door), so out came the sawzall....oooohh......made a few cuts (there was an existing, smaller door, so just had to make the hole bigger), and she asked "can i try that?!"  sure, showed her how to hold and and control it, where to cut (not the final line, i'll clean it up when she's done).....ooooh.....she needs one of those from Christmas from Santa!!!

bwhahahaha......yes, these are cool, and powerful tools, just be careful.  her first house, and she's learning that having the right tools makes doing things much easier or even possible.

and the report from the dog's owner:  the dog, after not being too sure what this new thing was, and having to be bribed with some treats, figured it out, and now loves it!  yay doggie!!

Trailblazer is home. Windshield washer doesn't work now:ChinScratch:Hopefully tank is empty since they had to remove it and not a cut or disconnected hose? Too dark and cold to look at it tonight.

They had to replace front lines too. What they charged me for both of those was far less than I could find them for anywhere not counting shipping.

OTOH, their fluid was kinda pricey. I had them change the transmission filter and fluid which includes a flush to clear torque converter. Shifts really smooth now.

Now back to detailing it, wash, wax, and finally putting in the new grill. Surprisingly, that was cheaper from Autozone shipped to my door versus price from boneyard and it included all new clips and retainers.

Then it's finally back to the truck. No rest for they wicked they say.

Getting ready to start the joinery on the patio sofa I am building.

Spent a relaxing evening sharpening chisels and planes in preparation of some joinery fun.

On a related but slightly different topic my arm seems to be largely bald now in places. :)

Well did not get a chance to post on the beginning of my week. Got back from Alaska cruise late Sunday. Monday got a call from buddy about estate full of tools. We went over and I got a Porter Cable 690 router and other odds and ends.

Was going to get ply to build a cabinet for church and thought about the stack of oak they had in a trailer. So I got 8 planks oak white and maybe red for less than the cost of a sheet of ply. wood is 15" x 12'. Also wanted a Ryobi 2hp router yesterday but not wanting to pay 30 so he threw that in today also for 12 got 2 saw blades and HF chainsaw sharpener (now to figure how to use that). Got started on cutting parts and planing and sanding but hey 15 will not fit my 12 inch planer so will use the drum sander. Oh boy what did I get into??

Will get pics tomorrow.

On our 06 Pilot it's impossible to change the filter without removing the transmission. Honda recommends against doing a power flush. (Will void warranty but at 276K don't figure it's still got one) What they recommend is to drain and refill 3X, and of course use their expensive Honda branded transmission fluid. What I did was the 3X drain/refill, and added inline filters when I installed the tow-package transmission, and steering coolers. Transmission now runs about 25° cooler according to the HDS/HIM diagnostic system. Also switched to full synthetic Valvoline Max-Life transmission fluid, and full synthetic power steering fluid. The Max-Life is about $10.00 cheaper per gallon than Honda's branded fluid.

I'm also on a Honda forum, and quite a few members there recommend the Max-Life transmission fluid but don't recommend anything but Honda's power steering fluid saying everything else they've tried created leaks. I decided to give it a shot anyway, and to my surprise the small leak on the passengers side of the steering rack quit leaking, and the power steering pump now runs much quieter. Have a little over 5K miles since putting in the synthetic PSF, and still no leaks. All of the synthetics I've used are Valvoline due to them being the predominate brand in this area. (Also cheapest)  Not sure if other brands would have the same results so YMMV.

This is the first vehicle that I've used the synthetics in, and I'm rather impressed with the results.

Can't speak for you but I know I have;)

I've used Valvoline exclusively on every vehicle as well as L&G engines I've owned for at least 50 years. Exception on L&G hydrostatics/hydraulics, I do use the John Deere Hy-Guard. I just prefer Valvoline. I only use OEM engine oil filters too.

As for Valvoline engine oil, I've never used their full synthetic yet, but the blend, Max-Life. My SIL recommends the full synthetic for the Hemi. He has had three his latest purchase..."Purple Passion", Challenger, 392...not the Hellcat model but scary fast.
