Friday August 26th 2022-What's on Your Weekend Agenda?

It's Fantastic Friday Again Folks!

Why Fantastic? <_<

Here "Two Weeks From Anywhere" those weather prognasticators are saying today will be the "Pick" day of the weekend. :Tapping:

It's going to get Hotter, more Humid, with Dewpoints raising into the low 70's by the time the weekend is over. :Hot:

:ChinScratch:Looks like I'll have to contact an automotive glass shop.

The windshield on the Pilot had been replaced at some time, and it's leaking. :PullingHair:

Looks like it wasn't positioned properly when it was installed. Looks to be about 1/4" too far towards the drivers side, and dropped down from the top by about the same amount. Also has a scratch from when the neighbor lost a wiper while driving on the freeway.  Neighbor needs a new windshield for his 2005 Express van, and used a shop a couple years ago that came next door to do the work on a couple of his other vans. They were about half the price of Safe-Lite.

Maybe they'll give us a package deal.

So, What's on Your Weekend Agenda"?

Made the girls "grandpa's famous":P 2 egg, cheese, peppers omelets + bacon & bagels for their last official summer breakfast earlier. Oldest heads back to campus later today. Youngest leaves early tomorrow. Good summer for all. We're blessed to have two wonderful, adopted, grand-daughters.

Resume mowing/trimming today once grass dries. Interrupted yesterday with surprise thunderstorm. Obtain vehicle(s) status updates from various repair shops. Oldest grandson has football game at 11A tomorrow. Got moved to a home game so that helps. Still sorting through auction treasures. Pictures coming soon.

Sunday, regular church responsibilities. After, lunch out, then return to a very quiet house. Perhaps a last Sunday in August nap may occur?

Have a blessed weekend. Whatever all, y'all are doing, be safe, wear appropriate PPE, take breaks as needed and keep extra pencils secured in your safe.

Limbert legs are done. Now, for the shelves. Then finally, assembly.

Amazon sent me a package of scroll saw goodies. Some wire sized drill bits and, a pkg. of #9 and,#7 blades. They'll get stored away, out of sight, so I won't be tempted.

Luckily, my adult beverages come in bottles with paper labels.  Not easily confused with cans of Great Stuff. :throbbinghead:

Pilot goes for a new windshield Wednesday.

Took it over to the glass shop for the guy to look at, and he confirmed my suspicions of the windsheild having not been properly installed.

Whoever did the replacement simply cut the old windsheild out, and didn't clean the old sealer out of the windsheild opening.

He just added more sealer and tried gluing it into place. The old sealer held the windsheild out far enough that the windsheild overrode the positioning clips at the bottom of the windsheild, and had slid down leaving very little sealer flange at the top.

They don't polish scratches out anymore due to the thin glass used now days.

Price quoted is $5.00 less than half the cost Safe-Lite quoted. ;)

I'm thinking it's time to get in the shop and take a good tool inventory. My time in the shop has been severely cut.  Between the mesothelioma issues and now having issues with low blood pressure my shop tome has been limited a little scroll sawing.  While in respiratory therapy yesterday I got a BP reading of 78/46.  Really getting down there. My cardiologist has stopped all blood pressure medications.  I have no family member who would be interested in the tools so maybe now is the time to consider selling some. It's a bad time when your head says yes to getting in the shop but the body says no.

I'm satisfied that I've had over 20 years after my retirement to continue to enjoy woodworking as a hobby and at 91 I have had many more years than most to enjoy it. No, I'm not hanging upon life, but I know it's time to face the reality of what is. I still have good mobility and don't plan to become a couch potato.

I do plan to stay aboard the Patriot woodworker. Made lots of friends here.

That's a great attitude, Al.  Keep your mind active.  I have a next door neighbor friend at our SC place who just turned 90.  Like you, he's still active has spends some time each day on several different hobbies. ' He taught me the basics of stained glass because I figured I'd be needing a hobby that didn't involve ladders!

Sending my nephew off to College tomorrow.  It seems like he was a little kid a year or so ago and now suddenly all grown up.    Enrolled in Texas State Technical College auto mechanic program.  Going to miss my range/shop/fishing buddy.

Was contacted via one of Mrs Boss facepage groups by a guy wanting to talk to a turner.  Made a new friend and had a two hour visit out in the shop talking tools and bowl process from green to 2nd turning.  He brought me a box of wood for my trouble.

I have not although watched a few You-tubes where people have. All claim success?? IIRC Stumpy Nubs aka James Hamilton has one showing how to touch up a blade in that fashion.

I have the H-F blade sharpener but have never got a-round-2-it yet. Again watched numerous tubes on it. I have plenty of blades to practice on from sales before I attempt a good one. Sorry not much help Gerald.

After busting my butt all week to get the paint project done which I finished yesterday, I believe I will take it kinda easy this weekend.  On tap is final inspection and any needed touch ups today, untape door and electrical stuff and install covers, install lights, roll up the floor tarp and general cleanup.  Look into some type of crown moulding to hide the ugly seam at top of wall.  If I am feeling "into it", will pull the Duster out for a clean up and ride.  I may be more into the clean up today and the ride tomorrow :D
