May 2, 20224 yr Popular Post Thanks @John Morris. I always look forward to your Monday post. It helps keep me aware of what day it is. Of course, I'll forget by tomorrow. Got a passel of boards to prepare for edge glue. Hope to get them all glued up by lunch. It's gonna be all AHs&Es for a while.
May 2, 20224 yr Popular Post Monday? The weeks plan depends upon what "Mother Nature" decides to do. Looks like another week of every other day. Will get the workbench top hauled over sometime today, then there will be a top on my workbench for the "What's on Your Workbench" topic.
May 2, 20224 yr Popular Post Busy weekend. Soccer, errands, church, more errands, bird feed prep for some new arrivals thus little garage time. Oh, even washed the truck so y'all best expect copious amounts of rain. Outside work today before next storm front rolls through. Rain in forecast 4 of next 7 days. Couple of soccer matches to end that season then baseball begins. Primary voting tomorrow. Plenty of projects to choose from...ooh, there goes a squirrel. Edited May 2, 20224 yr by Grandpadave52

I'm still recovering from yesterday's May pole dancing. 🙃
May 2, 20224 yr Popular Post Been playing with a new design for salt cellars and sugar bowls. These are prototypes but I need to work on the placement of the Celtic knot. I'm going to add a pepper grinder to the set. I think these will make some nice Christmas presents, once perfected.
May 2, 20224 yr Popular Post Spent the morning at the furniture bank. A group of volunteers from an insurance co. knocked out 15 tables in a bit less than 3 hr. I was off in the corner fixing chairs and tables with the legs knocked off. The crews like to just slide things around in the warehouse and some of the legs just can't take it. And today cured me of ever wanting to work in a shared workshop. Tools cannot be found and nothing is put back where it came from. I have just decided I'll carry in my tool kit rather than spend 80% of the time walking to the tool room and trying to find a tool or part
May 3, 20224 yr Popular Post The woodturners club bought a new lathe this morning and I helped put it together. Spent the PM in shop gluing up blanks for eggs I plan to hollow to make boxes.
May 3, 20224 yr Popular Post I cleaned up the shop over the weekend, moved mobile tools around, washed the Chevy truck and have it parked in the shop. Started one last major detailing of it which "might" get finished today. Also started a clean-up & repaint of an older Craftsman bench vise. I had some parts in the electrolysis tank for a couple days. Those parts came out and were washed down over the weekend. Had to do some filing of rough edges on those parts before spraying them with hammered silver yesterday. Should get the rest of the vise cleaned and painted some time this week. Also ahead, told BIL that I would take him to Andersonville National Historic Site one day this week. He has not been there yet, I've been several times. Not much wood working for me this week...
May 3, 20224 yr Popular Post Still dressing lumber for those Limbert tables. When you start with rough stuff, it gets to be a chore. And, I'm slow. I'll be so glad when these are done. I'm getting bored. But, it's about to get interesting. After pricing 6/4 walnut for the table tops ($19 a BF) I'm going with Mesquite @ $5 a BF. Hey, these are gifts for grands. They already know how weird grandpa is.
May 4, 20224 yr Popular Post Well the long weekend is over. Saturday grandson which is in 8th grade had a track invitational and got 1st in shot put @41 feet and 4th in disc @ 90 feet. Then the granddaughter which is in 9th grade had her dance recital Saturday night. She is a great dancer and danced in 5 different dances, her and everyone did a great job!!! Proud of both of them. After all of the grandkids were done we took off with the camper. Got to the campground an hour and fifteen minutes from home and realized I had forgot my billfold and cell phone. What the heck? I blame it on getting distracted but it's probably old age setting in . After we got back to the campground around 10:30 we got the rest of the camper set up. What a long day
