April 30, 20224 yr Popular Post Finally! Got the fronts done on the vanity for the basement relief station . My first time using M&T joints for the doors/false front. Used a router bit set and it worked pretty well. A little tight fit for the flat panel though. Finished! (I don't get to use the F word very often around here.)

April 30, 20224 yr All set to burn this morning and went to print out a permit... No permits due to Class 5 fire conditions on the LAST DAY FOR THE YEAR TO BURN! I had piles of around the pile of brush I was going to burn. Looks like I'll have 3 or 4 piles to burn next season I did manage to re-re-rebuild my mail box after it being hit yet again this year by the snow plow.
April 30, 20224 yr Popular Post AND I was headed to the store across the river, when I got to the end of the road there was a stack of 7 of my favorite pallets. I pulled a 180, went home hooked up my trailer loaded the pallets and continued to the store. Life is good with a pallet factory on the road you live on
April 30, 20224 yr Popular Post The Sushi Sashimi was excellent. Here's phyl's serving. She shared hers. My Sashimi came in a boat. Nobody would share mine. Pansies! Edited April 30, 20224 yr by Gene Howe

So I will be home with the dog, sitting in my lawn chair, burn brush on the last day of permitted brush burning, pending of course the determination of Eastern Mass having the proper Air Quality. There may or may not be a beer, or two, nearby. I drove Rt 2 several years ago on a return trip from Thousand Islands in NY. Drove into Vt not knowing what was ahead of me in my Chevy station wagon and towing my 32' travel trailer. I was about to climb Hogback mountain. Not that big a deal normally, but towing that trailer sure made it more of a challenge. Had issues with overheating the car about 3/4 the way up but finally made it to the top. Stopped to let the car cool and while there viewed the map and decided to take Rt 2 west to east in MA. Something like a bit over 100 miles.Took time to walk thru the old cemetery at the top of the mountain before heading down the other side. I was really thankful the trailer had brakes that I could alternate with the car brakes on the trip down. Once on RT 2 it was a pleasant ride to finish the vacation trip. Frankly. I like that drive a lot more than the MA turnpike. I've driven that a few times, since my wife has family in Tyringham MA. Edited May 1, 20224 yr by Al B
May 1, 20224 yr Popular Post I've towed over Hog Back a couple times pulling a 32' 5th wheel but I had a Dodge 3500 with a Cummings Diesel, I can't imagine a Chevy Wagon. Rt2 is more fun than I-90 with more to look at but on the Western end of it only takes one Sunday driver and the trip is a lot long and the Eastern end can fill with traffic.
May 1, 20224 yr Popular Post Spent 5 days going to Dayton to work on a mission project with church one home unoccupied for 10 years, two others new construction after tear-downs and tornado damage 2 years ago. They split us 9 into 2 groups. My group spent two days building an enclosure for HVAC in a slab base home. Three guys crawling around the rafters and attaching 2x4s, the drywalling it all in. Lots of duct work and electric wires and engineered rafters just to make it fussy. Then went to another home, new construction where we added vinyl siding (again fussy around doors, windows, gables, water and electric works, and installed starter strips on the other two sides. Also installed and trimmed two exterior doors. Saturday was working on the theater set. Made some bases mobile and fixed up one that was about half done last week (and way more complicated than needed) and wiring some lighted bases for "museum display". Monday back to the furniture bank to lead a large group of volunteers.

May 2, 20224 yr Popular Post Got exactly nothing done in the shop this weekend. Headed down to LA to visit my brother instead. Had a great time and came home. One thing the trip made apparent is that we will need to install a doggy door at some point, the pups love that thing.

Michael, this may not be news or even useful to you. We needed a doggy door for our (then ) puppy a few years back. My wife found that they now make storm doors with a built in doggy door, so I just bought one and put it on the back door of our house. We were planning on a storm door there anyway, so it killed 2 birds...well, you know.
May 2, 20224 yr Popular Post We have 3 entry doors...well, 4 but one's a French door. And it's double paned glass with venetian blinds between the panes. The other two have heavy duty steel security screen doors. The previous owner was a bit paranoid. So, we're our pup's door man..or woman, as the case may be. She...the pup...is smart but too short to reach the knob.
