April 25, 20224 yr Popular Post Looking for a place to set up a photo backdrop in my house so I can take some decent photos of the 40+ projects I've designed and made that crowd my house. Many walls, but none with 7' or more of clear space on or in front of them. Somehow my imagination thought a good place would magically appear when I order the backdrop and stands. Of the 4 tiny tables I talked about in my blog my intent was to build all of them to become the seed examples to show the students for that project. When my DH gave me a paid vacation rather then have me teach this semester I only had one built. I have the tops cut for the other 3 and enough wood in the shop to finish at least one of them. Any preferences from 2,3,or 4 you would like to see made? https://4dfurniture.blogspot.com/2022/04/woodworking-education-tiny-table-1.html https://4dfurniture.blogspot.com/2022/04/woodworking-education-tiny-table-2.html https://4dfurniture.blogspot.com/2022/04/woodworking-education-tiny-table-3.html https://4dfurniture.blogspot.com/2022/04/woodworking-education-tiny-table-4.html 4D
April 25, 20224 yr Popular Post Had to change the bandsaw blade. A 5 minute job. Time for nap but, it's too early. Gotta work on my scheduling. Still resawing walnut. Ruined a couple boards...well, can't use them where 3/4 is needed, anyway. That's why the blade change! We'll rip (pun intended) through the remaining ones, today. Then, it's back to the planer. As is typical, my ADD kicked in during my reading of the plans for these Limbert tables and, I missed the part where they specified the thickness of the top which is 6/4. That means a very expensive trip to my supplier. Haven't checked prices, yet. I'm afraid to. 😨 After the shop time and, a nap of course, I'll spend an hour or so rearranging my sock drawer. Or maybe, trim the stray hairs off the bench brushes. They're looking a bit scraggly.
April 25, 20224 yr Popular Post Going to buy a Troy Built tiller from a acquaintance this afternoon. Hope to get back to shop and clean up tools from Saturday demo and continue work on a bowl rim . Plus take pics of completed work from weekend show n tell.

I have a 1996 Horse, and I'm taking it to a shop for a new drive belt. Tried to do it myself, but I've lost the nimble-ness and finger strength to wrestle it in.

April 25, 20224 yr Popular Post Got a little garage time in over the weekend performing seek & find maneuvers along with rescue and restore from past online auction weaknesses. Coming week will be Round II of the Pick-Up Sticks game after the weekend wind wars when (or more likely IF) it quits raining. Suspect it's time to get a couple of mowers + string trimmers ready to begin the annual grass and weed battle campaign. In-coming frost may delay initial assault for a couple of days. Noticed a few minutes ago an aerial assault by feathered craft from Baltimore (or perhaps feathered mascots from a baseball team) looking for food & lodging so that will be task of the day. Any unallocated time will be assigned to KP. Perhaps, with good behavior, an occasional work-release garage pass if the warden signs off.

April 25, 20224 yr Author Popular Post It seems that the H-F Disc/belt Sander had thrown the set screw that held the disc to the drive shaft.....took most of the day to get the disc off. Then haul it to Lowes...size a couple new st screws. $1.29 a pair.....sanding disc was worn out...as was the 4" x 36" belt...went to Harbor Freight and bought new. Along with a set of Allen wrenches...as I can't find where mine might had been sent to... Same amount of discs at Lowes ( Craftsman brand) as at H-F......just $4 more....not that I am "cheap"..just Frugal Plant Table is heading down the road, tomorrow...to a friend of ours. Which means I can now build yet another table...maybe with a drawer? There is a big Tool Swap meet in Piqua, OH. Next month.....on my birthday, no less....however, it seems my membership card has run out....drat there is also another group meeting that same day, in Piqua,OH. Have to play that by ear?
April 25, 20224 yr Popular Post A while back, I made a little "Kids Free Library" for the local public library. It was to be placed in the Michaux State Forest, Caledonia State Park (about 12 miles west of Gettysburg). The director of the local library sent me some pictures of it in its new home- Next to the original "Grownups" library- Closeup-
April 25, 20224 yr Author Popular Post Ok...all back together...New belt installed...have to take the stop block off first..then re-install that...check that the belt runs true. Metal backing plate for the disc: had to cut new threads, as the old Metric ones were trashed..5/16" x 18...then align things up, and crank things tight...and check how it runs....then attach the sanding disc (80 grit) and then install the table...and adjust so it isn't rubbing on the disc. Should be all set to get back to work....for now...yes, I do have a spare set screw, available...

Set up the support stands on either side. Slid the backdrop roll on the cross bar. Should be plenty of space on the bed for most of the furniture. I need now to find a 3'x3' or so scrap of flat stiff material to set on the bed under the paper so that furniture legs don't crinkle or pierce the paper backdrop. Now to gather all my photo lights. 4D

April 26, 20224 yr Popular Post Photo of the tiny table 1. No finish or final sanding on it yet. I may play with the lighting for a more dramatic effect once it is finished. The parts aren't glued up yet. 4D Edited April 26, 20224 yr by 4DThinker
