April 11, 20224 yr Popular Post Trying to avoid such things......Today is also the day after a BAD Migraine.....about as bad as the morning after a "Pub Crawl" I managed to get a few glue-ups done, yesterday....not sure what this week will be like.. Monday..about says it all....
April 11, 20224 yr Popular Post After planting 47 five gallon sized oleanders on Saturday, I have all those plastic nursery containers to haul to the land fill. Not to waste the trip and the minimum dump charge of $11, I’ll toss in a few busted plastic tubs we used in our move here. They’ve been cluttering up the back side of the shop for 18 months. Then, I’ll scoot over to the UPS store for some Amazon returns of unused irrigation parts. 20 miles to the dump, 15 more to UPS. A stop for gas, coffee and a cherry fritter, will shoot the morning. Living in the boonies has numerous quality of life benefits but, convenience ain’t one! Then, after lunch, a nap. May not get in any shop time, today.
April 11, 20224 yr Popular Post I'm scrambling to get ready for Easter. Because Marie had surgery originally scheduled for next Monday, she was supposed to be on a liquid diet this week....so we cancelled plans for a big Easter dinner letting the kids/grandkids fend on their own. I did not object to this, since I'm the cook of this dinner. But here surgery was cancelled pending some more work/analysis and we waited to hear what that was. However, yesterday Marie told me we should go ahead and have an Easter dinner with everyone coming over. Now, I love having the family over but I'm not so good at last minute planning. Plus, there doesn't seem to be any whole bone-in hams available (anywhere) that is the standard fare expected around our house on Easter. That part may be good for me, I'm not a fan of smoked ham.

April 11, 20224 yr Popular Post Got a bit of garage time in yesterday; cleaning, sorting, putting stuff away; nothing noteworthy. Much needed outdoor work, winter cleanup etc. unlikely again this week based on weather forecast of rain & thunderstorms all week. May get some more garage time in since it will at least be warmer. Youngest grandson's 8th birthday is tomorrow so party time. Elementary school Spring Music festival Thursday night on the big stage at the HS Performance Auditorium. Both granddaughters plan to be home by Friday for Easter weekend. Whatever you all do, be careful, work safe and enjoy the week.
April 11, 20224 yr Popular Post Absolutely exhausted. Saturday’s pancake breakfast volunteering knocked me out! Errands today. Beautiful morning weather, a nice walk in an historic borough to their business district. Experienced flirting; nearly forgot it existed! The liquor store manager will have six wood wine crates for me next Monday, the flirtee no doubt ready to ambush me at the tailor’s shop - she’s a self-proclaimed match maker. Translation: NOSY. Truck running smoothly, ready to drive across country to do some custom woodwork for pay, for a friend. After Easter and a May 1st memorial, I’ll decide. Easter I make the slaw, bring it to my sister’s house.
April 11, 20224 yr Popular Post Got handles for ice cream scoops done , now on to pizza cutters. Also did some new style Easter eggs to be in turning post. But I am definitely getting hungry for HAM!!

I do not have good relations with the relations. I tend to grab some burgers and dogs for all occasions that we host, and I cook. I like that menu, I can cook that menu, and the clean up is pretty darn easy. Yesterday was Palm Sunday dinner (cause we’re NOT going to the M-I-L’s for Easter this year). Me Missus cooked and it was a ham dinner with all the fixings. I did offer my usual, but me Missus wouldn’t have any of it. My way of looking at it is, our house, we decide the menu. Might be why I didn’t get married until I was 43 LOLOL!
April 12, 20224 yr Popular Post Hey @Artie, did I miss something? You mentioned a scheduled surgery for Marie. Hope she's OK.
April 12, 20224 yr Popular Post Been busy at work, not much standing around or goof off time. This is good as I am on commission, and time is money. But still very busy days for me. Overall I enjoy this place much better than the last place I stayed for 10 years.
April 12, 20224 yr Popular Post Glad you're happy with the new job @Gunny ! Bet you're being missed where you left.

April 12, 20224 yr Popular Post Did a session at the furniture bank this morning. We had an outside volunteer group of 4. We are slowly getting back into other than just us core volunteers. Today were guys from the county parole department. They probably have to do some "community service." They did a pretty good job. One guy was a framer. I think we pumped out close to 30 tables in about 3 hours. This afternoon, I ran a prototype on some scrap to make sure my game board holes didn't run into each other from front to back. I contacted a buddy to see if he'd be interested in running the holes on his CNC. Edited April 12, 20224 yr by kmealy

April 12, 20224 yr Popular Post After almost 7 weeks of driving back and forth to Fort Wayne, Indiana our oldest son is finally getting out of the hospital!! He had been in ICU for 5 of the 7 weeks with pancreatitis. His kidneys shut down and his gallbladder will have to come out sometime. While he was in the hospital he had a blood vessel rupture in his abdomen twice with massive blood loss which resulted in giving him over 20 units of blood and was put on a ventilator. After emergency surgery and fixing the problem he is now on the mend. His Doctor says he sees alot of this in people that are alcoholics but the only thing is he doesn't drink at all. Tomorrow he is being moved to a rehab center closer to home and closer to his family to start walking again and get his strength back. Have to give thanks to the Dr's and the nurses at Parkview for saving his life!! On a brighter note in between trips to the hospital, I've been getting the camper ready for a much needed relaxing camping trip close to home. And the weather is starting to get nicer!!

On-going prayers for your son and your family Larry. Parkview is one of the top hospitals not only in Indiana, but the Midwest. Thankful you are relatively close by.
April 12, 20224 yr Popular Post Sorry to hear of your son's health issues @LarryS. Glad to hear he is finally on the road to recovery. Prayers are with your son and the family.

Had Pancreatitis last September. Luckily a very mild case. Each doctor I saw asked me how much I drank. Apparently my 2 drinks a month weren’t enough to explain the Pancreatitis. Very glad to hear things are getting better for your son!

She had a procedure (?) where they give her a Botox shot in the stomach (?)(somewhere in the gut) so she can digest food. She has to have one, once a year for 4 years before they will okay the medical device which can be implanted and accomplish the same thing. They have to put her under for the procedure. All went well, all is well. Thank you for asking.
