January 27, 20224 yr Good looking saw and shop. In a couple of your pictures there is a roller attached to a fence on a table saw? How do you use it?
January 29, 20224 yr Author Popular Post That is a roller attached to the fence of the Shopsmith. When using the SS bandsaw it servers as an adjustable outfeed roller for the bandsaw. It’s part of the reason I am raising the level of the Laguna bandsaw to the same level as the SS bandsaw was. I really like having that outfeed roller for longer stock. Paul
January 29, 20224 yr Author Popular Post It’s a roller I cannibalized off of a HF roller stand. We used that SS bandsaw to resaw a lot of wood over the years. Paul
January 31, 20224 yr Author Popular Post Made a good start on the base or the bandsaw today. It’s going to have three drawers and on leveling casters. I glued together a bunch of black walnut scraps for the drawer fronts and another pile of poplar scraps for the drawer sides.
January 31, 20224 yr Popular Post You have intrigued me. What are the protrusions on the side that look like brass knobs?
February 1, 20224 yr Author Popular Post Those are walnut plugs over the screw holes. Got a lot done today. Sanded the base and drawer fronts and put a coat of finish on them. Now it’s three quick drawers and put the casters on. Oh and then mount the bandsaw. Paul

February 1, 20224 yr That's a beaut Clark, 'er Paul. Color me green with envy. Love the walnut drawer fronts.
February 1, 20224 yr Author I went through the scrap pile and salvaged any strips longer that 18” and glued them all together and then planed them down. Couldn’t justify using anything but scraps for a shop fixture. Paul
February 1, 20224 yr Popular Post That is coming together nicely. Let me know if you want a hand getting the bandsaw up on that thing.
February 2, 20224 yr Author Popular Post My friend from Texas arrived today and helped me get the saw onto the new base. This is my friend that I had to make the emergency run to Shreveport VA hospital back in December for the nephrectomy. Talk about quick recovery. He drove here from DeKalb Tx. Anyway we managed to get the saw from the Laguna base to the new one. I wasn’t happy with the stability. It was OK but not really rigid so I secured it to the wall for more rigidity which solved the problem. This saw won’t be moving but if needed can move with the removal of two screws. The height is now perfect for me when doing detail work and also utilizes the neighboring Shopsmith for the run off table. Now just make the drawers and it will be complete. Paul
February 2, 20224 yr Popular Post The set up looks great Paul. Also glad to hear your friend is up and well.
February 3, 20224 yr Author Popular Post The drawers are done. I will fit them tomorrow and put the drawer fronts on. Paul
February 3, 20224 yr The bandsaw box looks great Paul. What type of wheels are on it? Also, what type of floor finish is on your shop floor, looks like it has been there a while and has held up. Redoing my garage is on my horizon and that will include some type of floor finish.
