August 27, 20214 yr Popular Post Friday again, Wonder how that happened? Here "Two Weeks From Anywhere" about the only thing going on is trying to survive the Triple H weather. I'm beginning to think we took a trip to the Tropics without going anywhere. Might get some more severe again today, haven't cleaned up from the last one yet. Might leave that job for yhpruM, that might keep him out of my hair for awhile. So, What's on your weekend agenda?
August 27, 20214 yr Popular Post The weekend is shot for my shopwork. We're having overnight guests arriving this PM. Plus, we have to pick up, from the carrier's dock, a new zero turn mower, also this PM. I'm sure Saturday will be spent uncrating and servicing it. Hope to be playing with it Sunday and, Monday. Tuesday looks good for the shop. By then, Phyl will be chomping at the bit to try it out. if not, before. The shop is slowly inching toward becoming serviceable. Purt near every moving box and tub has been emptied but, definitely not organized.
August 27, 20214 yr Popular Post Maybe some turning. I need to clean the shop, too, and get stuff put away.
August 27, 20214 yr Popular Post I am officially taking a vacation day today! Mrs. Boss and assorted girl friends are spending the weekend at the lake house. I just have to keep the wookie (son) and I fed. NO HONEY DOs. Hmmmm....should I be productive....or a couch potato???????? .40

August 27, 20214 yr Popular Post Theater set build starts tomorrow for Seussical, for the last week of October production. Not sure what all needs to be built yet except for some platforms a, steps, and guard rails. We picked up $1000 worth (or should I say cost) of construction lumber and 5mm plywood Wednesday. The last show was cancelled three weeks before curtain rose and we had the set 90% done. All that either got trashed or undone. https://www.actingup.com/ Yesterday was at the furniture bank. We prepped pieces for another 15 or so tables and cut pieces for about that many more. We also got a couple of skids of stair part rejects from a factory and made a table with legs and aprons from one of those. Hint: Hickory is a lot harder than particle board. We decided it worked, but we would keep it to the "pros" and not have outside volunteers doing them that way. https://nlfurniture.org/ I also fixed a sofa that had plastic legs that split apart very easily. Replaced all 4 legs with wood ones.

August 27, 20214 yr I've often wondered what would happen if the front one dropped out on a gravel road?

August 27, 20214 yr Not me, but an acquaintance. This was back in the 60's, and the car was a '55 Ford. He wasn't going that fast (I guess) but the driveshaft whipped out to the side of the car and broke the rear yoke then something punched a big rip in his driver side rear tire. Somehow the car wound up in the drainage ditch on the side of the road. At least that's the way I remember it. The car became a "case study" in our high school Automotive Shop class.

August 27, 20214 yr Airplanes had "Dive Brakes"....car/van/truck version was about guaranteed to stop on a dime...and pay out 25 cents in change.... And the bill will be? $$$$$? As for me? I, laying low until Monday,...when I find out how bad this knee is...
