July 9, 20215 yr Popular Post Friday? What happened to the rest of the week? Must have gone through some sort of time warp on that trip to "Three Weeks From Anywhere". That missed turn at one of those goofy round-abouts must have been the portal back to "Two Weeks From Anywhere". Oh well, it was a good trip anyway. The Pilot ran great, and averaged a little better than 22.25 MPG for combined city/highway driving. Today I'll be doing the 3rd transmission drain/refill, and installing the Tow-Package transmission and power steering coolers along with a pair of Filtran magnetic filters. Of course doing so requires removing most of the front coverings, but I've now done it enough times that I've got it down to about 1/2 hour. ... So, what's on your weekend agenda? Anything fun?
July 9, 20215 yr Popular Post Assemble a couple deck chairs that our daughter & I built. She painted them last weekend. Then start on a coffee table for same daughter.
July 9, 20215 yr Popular Post Kitchen is primed & painted and she is happy. Need to relocate a heat duct to a new location under a cabinet then start putting this room back together. Window, floor & cabinets are on schedule to be delivered the last week of the month. Not looking forward to installing the underlayment but I did get a new air stapler out of the deal. Pushing to get window trim & floating shelves installed before the cabinets arrive so I can have something to bang my head on while installing said cabinets.
July 9, 20215 yr Popular Post Installing retractable casters on the work bench. Gotta do it BEFORE the two layers of 3/4 MDF are on! Pics later, if it ain't too ugly. Finally got the walnut, cherry, mesquite, and maple un tarped and mostly moved in to my new lumber rack and, it's full! I knew when we moved it from the old place that storing it in the shop would be problematic. But, I wasn't about to leave it. As it is, some of it will still need re tarped, outside. When the work bench finally gets a top, I can start on trimming up those pallet boards for the wall. Edited July 9, 20215 yr by Gene Howe
July 9, 20215 yr Popular Post Trench all dug out. Pipe installed and pressure checked. We have water to back building.
July 9, 20215 yr Popular Post Can't believe how busy everyone is and feel the same here. Started doing rough turn on 40 handles for the Fire Stix (fire starter w/ ferrocium rod) I sell in my booth. Dug up one more bush yesterday and the wife gave me permission to remove almost all bushes on one side of the house. Really getting tired to trimming that stuff. Tomorrow if the rain holds off going to help my son clean up some limbs and brush on the new land. Got a Husqvarna 525LST weedeater to help and waiting for parts to mount brush blade with chainsaw teeth. Oh what fun!?
July 9, 20215 yr Popular Post Swapped out the motherboard, CPU, RAM and Power Supply on the old computer yesterday. Cleaning up link properties because one of the old DVD drives was an IDE and wasn't compatible with the new motherboard so all of the drive letters were rearranged. Once I got the BIOS on the new motherboard set correctly (with help from a friend) the old hard drive was recognized and windows loaded. Transferring the activation key was a snap. Didn't even have to call M/S.
July 9, 20215 yr Popular Post I just returned from Frank Miller Lumber with 5 boards. 8 bf of hard maple and 25 bf of cherry. My business cost was $124.00. Luckily I pass the cost on. Weekend project is twofold. First, I have to start a maple burial flag case and then I get to make a plaque for the local 4H club. The humorous part is that I built 4 display cases pro bono. Even supplied the QSWO but I have to build the plaque thanking me for the donation. Seems a bit awkward.
July 9, 20215 yr Popular Post I haven't been to Frank Miller in the past 12 months. I don't have the current pricing, but I was wondering if hardwood went up....sure sounds like it did.
July 9, 20215 yr Popular Post I've been spending time in the evenings roughing out some bowl blanks from the whatcamacallit oak. Really amounts to little more than bowl gouge practice. Sealing with shellac and shelving to dry. I ended up buying a new chain for the chainsaw since I was unable to find my old sharpening jig...of course I haven't seen it in 20 years but I KNOW I have one. I have been informed by SWMBO that we are going recliner shopping this weekend. Bark peels off pretty easy. Cheating on my mortise test @Gunny .40
