Rank Names

Featured Replies

kerala-3946556.jpgDear folks, here is your opportunity to have a say in how our rank structure is created. Since our new software upgrade, our old rank structure has been wiped clean, and a new one in place.

Please submit your ideas in this topic, we can have as many ranks as we want, or as few as we want. But we do need ranks, they cannot be turned off because other facets of our software depend on them, so if we have to live with them, lets make it fun!

I'll start it off with:

  1. Gopher
  2. Woodpecker
  3. Carpenter Ant
  4. Carpenter Bee
  5. Apprentice
  6. Journeyman

and on and on

You can tag onto mine, or you can completely come up with a new creative rank structure, fun and comical, or more related to our world of woodworking. Lets make this a community driven effort.

Thanks to anyone willing to jump in and have some fun with this!

Throw it out there Andrew, as many or as few as you all like, just looking for ideas now. I'd like this to be a community effort, driven by you and our members. :)

Shouldn't at least one of the terms have "engineer," as in sanitation engineer?   :D

what is the algorithm that advances a member to the next level. That might be a consideration as to how many levels we could/should have.

Participation and content Lew. Points are scored for topics and posts submitted, gallery images, files in our downloads department submitted, blogs submitted, wherever our members have a chance to contribute content, a point is scored, along with "likes" and star ratings of their content by other members.

Thanks

We can also separate each rank by any number of points we wish. We can spread out the amount of points if we only have a few ranks, or we can tighten up the points spread if we have many ranks.

Garage Engineer.  My Dad often referred to some of my projects as such.  :D

Jim, that rank would be reserved for yours truly, me, and only me.

Don't remember how many ranks we had before or the number of interactions required to reach the highest levels.

Myself I find them entertaining. Not much of a "rank" is important person.  :D

we used the union structure Lew, I think it was something like this:

  • Gopher
  • Apprentice
  • Journeyman
  • Master Tradesman

I think there may have been one more or two more, I just can't remember. :(

So, "Not Much of a Rank" could be a rank!

Personally, being referred to a lesser animal or an insect is less than desirable.  That's probably best left to politics and political rivals on the other side of the aisle.

  1. Apprentice
  2. Journeyman
  3. Tradesman
  4. Master..etc.

Or a more military rank system.  That also fits well with The Patriot Woodworker theme of the site.

  1. Private
  2. Corporal
  3. Sergeant
  4. Master Sergeant
  5. Lieutenant...etc.
