Hope you get it! I have a fir 2X4x8 left over from our patio cover build. Thinking about listing it on Craigslist. I could use the $$.
May 24, 20214 yr I have some cedar to get rid of and it will go on Craigslist this summer. It is from a tree that the wife's sister planted in about 1952. Didn't get to use much of it, but have a few more projects and going to select what I want to keep and sell the rest. I am divesting of assets. Kevin, up around Chattanooga and the surrounding area, you can find all kinds of used wood. Just check it for termites, new and old. This is the season for them to swarm.
May 24, 20214 yr Popular Post For years we've heard the advice of cleaning up our shops, getting rid of scraps. Collectively our scraps may now be worth the national debt.

May 25, 20214 yr I had to go to Lowe's, HD and to a power chair lift installer today. As usual, you see the gasoline stations and we are having a price war now. Prices have fallen from $2.99 to $2.97 and $2.95 per gallon. The price is falling like a kite on a windy day. LOL
May 25, 20214 yr Cosco is at $2.79 . Everywhere else is at $2.97. May make a run to HD today. Cosco is next door.

June 3, 20214 yr Author I stopped over to a friend's place this afternoon to pick up some beekeeping equipment. He has a startup supply business and had returned yesterday from a vendor. He bought all he could and the vendor said they were having a hard time finding lumber to buy. They started out doing stuff in poplar. When that ran out, they started using pine and sassafras, and could not even get any of that any more. My friend is also doing some house remodeling. He said a sheet of plywood that was $28 last fall was $56 this week, and was not nearly the quality of last year's stuff.
June 3, 20214 yr Popular Post Went to Lowes last week and found a standard 2x4 was $8.38. Was afraid to look at plywood. Have been reading these posts for a while and figured I would go broke when I replenished my trophy shop walnut supply. Almost fell over dead when I looked at the invoice. It was 25% lower per bf than I usually pay and the wood was better quality. $3.60/bf vs $4.80/bf. Can't beat that with a stick. So to speak!
June 6, 20214 yr Author There is a large truck stop at the exit before mine. For a while it's been $2.99, but I thought they just didn't want to break the $3 ceiling. On the way home today it was $3.02. Costco was $2.79, less 4% rebate on the credit card. My daughter was looking for a new sofa. They quoted her a 48 week delivery time!!!
June 6, 20214 yr Popular Post Lordy me! I hope we're not looking at a "new normal". Rregardless, we gotta drive and, as woodworkers, we gotta have our wood. I need 20 sheets of 1/2" SOMETHING to cover my stud walls in the shop. At the price of ugly old OSB, might as well go with A/C plywood. Ah, well. You only live once.

June 6, 20214 yr Popular Post After having worked with wood for years (not much recently), i at least know where the big box stores get their lumber. This tree is on my neighbor's place and i've been meaning to get a picture.... but you know what i mean.
