@DAB. That was a rough holiday season for you all, how is Dad doing today without his love?

Received a package from a fellow woodworker on another site that reached out and offered to make my Father's Flag Case.

My Mother was greatly touched, the beauty, the sentiment and time and effort on this project comforted her.

Gunny how wonderful, and what a great gesture from that woodworker, I'd like to shake his hand.

@DAB, please accept my deepest condolences on the loss of your mother.

emotionally, Dad is doing much better.  physically, his 84 year old body is wearing out.  mostly sore knees.

but I call him everyday, at least once, and we have good chats.

whole story is in that one picture.

Mom had not been well most of last year, finally God called her home to glory.  had a good visit with Dad this past week.  us kids organized and put on the service, with Scripture readings and remembrances, and at the end, we used one of mom's garden trowels to place some dirt into the hole.

the box is cherry that my dad and my grand dad fell and milled some 70+ years ago, and that my dad has had with him all that time (was once a small bookcase).  he and I made two matching boxes in my shop several years ago, his is still in the house.  it came off the family tree farm up in Michigan.

not a fancy box, but dad liked the design, so that's what we did.

i opened my remarks with:

Psalm 118:24 This is the day which the LORD hath made; we will rejoice and be glad in it.

Thank you all for your kind words.

So sorry for your loss. Mimi and I are sending prayers to you and your family.

Praying for your Dad, all that stress I am sure had something to do with it.

in the good news dept:  had the shop open for a bit, hauling hoses out and getting them in place for watering season, went to close it up, and noticed a little humming bird at a window.  sigh.  get the ladder, catch him, close the garage door, grab a bottle of water, go outside, pour some water in my hand with him, he gets a sip and flies off.  win!

there is a certain peace in not worrying about matters you cannot control.

Matthew 6:34 Take therefore no thought for the morrow: for the morrow shall take thought for the things of itself. Sufficient unto the day is the evil thereof.

Assembled components for 18 dining tables this morning, then assembled 15 of them into tables.   Gave blood, up to 15 1/8 gallons now at the local donation center.   This afternoon, putting some wax foundation into frames for the bees so I am ready when they need it in a week or two.
