April 14, 20215 yr Popular Post Well, I finally got the Laguna bandsaw from the fundraiser in December. It got delivered on Friday, Apr 2. It took me awhile to get it all together and set up properly. At least I hope it is set up properly. I made a cut to check blade drift, and I can't see any drift at all. And that is with the fence locked up square to the table with no adjustments. I am posting a picture of that cut, showing a marked line, and the cut line slightly off from the marked line to see it it wandered at all, and it looks perfect to me. The lighting in the picture of the bandsaw is weird, but that is because I normally have a "corn" light in that room that I purchased from Rockler. That is a very bright light, and it flooded out the picture, so I had to remove it and put in a weaker flood light to get a better picture. So here are the pictures.
April 14, 20215 yr Popular Post It might have taken a while but the grinder I won has not been out of the box yet! Is this your first bandsaw?
April 14, 20215 yr Popular Post Postal, you are either a tall guy or the saw is sitting very low. I'd have to have it at a height that was convenient and not back bending.............by the way.......HAVE FUN!!
April 14, 20215 yr Popular Post Congrats on the saw. I have had one for a few years now and love it. My son got one a month or so ago and he's a big fan. What I found most helpful is this video on band saw setup by Alex Snodgrass. I've met and talked with him and he's a great guy, very knowledgeable.

I know the video you are talking about, and you're right, it is very helpful. I used it to set up my old bandsaw, and also the new one, and have no problem with blade drift since.
April 15, 20215 yr Author Popular Post @Ron Altier, yes I am somewhat tall. 6'2" when I stand up straight. That "boulder" in front of me tends to pull me down though.
April 15, 20215 yr Popular Post Congrats! I had a Laguna table saw for a while and it did good service. Keep us posted on how it works out for you. .40
April 15, 20215 yr Popular Post I did notice when I change from a 1/2" blade down to a 1/4" wide blade I do have to reset the saw so I only use the 1/2" wide blade only on the 18" band saw. I think Alex in his presentation of correctly setting the saw up he mentions the blade needs to run exactly in the middle of the top wheel. He might have said both wheels but I just go by the top wheel. Then I have a 12" saw I use the smaller blade on to turn tighter curves with... I believe Alex was at one of the early woodworking tool shows and think goodness I happen to be at that show and he cured my band saw problems...
April 15, 20215 yr Popular Post Congrats again Tom, glad you have received it and have it set up. Agree with Dan, that cut looks on the mark!
April 17, 20215 yr Author Popular Post I want to thank everybody for all the enthusiastic and supportive comments left on this thread. From what I can see, I won't be needing to use it on the project I currently have in work, but I am looking forward to actually using it on a project. I hope it is as easy to use as it is to look at, but I'm sure it is. Thanks all.
May 2, 20215 yr Tom, I am so sorry I am late to the show here, all hell broke loose here in the ol Morris home with health issues for the entire month of April and I have missed much of what is going on here. I want to congratulate you on that beautiful bandsaw, from my own research the Laguna Bandsaws are market leaders in the industry. It will serve you well, not too mention Laguna Customer support if you ever need it. I want to thank Laguna Tools for their support in our December Warrior Family Christmas project, they always come through in flying colors! Congrats again Tom!
