“I am hoping to use this to bore holes in wood.”

Are we that stupid?

Apparently some of us are! :WonderScratch: The quote is one of the comments in reply to why you bought a 7/16" drill bit.

Gene's got it but you better have a double handful of wood real tight before the wood touches the blade..

That was real easy to do on a Shopsmith where you put the blade on the arbor then the arbor on the machine.

I did some regular work for a couple.  She asked me to fix a kitchen drawer on one trip.   She said it was only used for holiday stuff but it had never worked right (they were in their 60s).   I pulled the drawer out to see if the glides were damaged or loose (common problems) and found nothing.  I put it back in position and dropped it in the track and it worked perfectly.

I would say they were not dumb, she was an MD and he was a professional doing something at a local prison.

In short, "Yes."  I mounted a blade backwards on a radial saw once.  After I made a hole in the wall with a flying board, I realized which way the blade turned.  Just once.  LOL

After 3 years in the Army and 25 years as a Scoutmaster...well, yeah, I believe the video serves a purpose.  Sometimes the lowest common denominator is well, pretty low.  Competes with whale defecation.

Have you ever tried to saw from the top of the board with a table saw?  I don't think sawing from the other side would work.:D

Please keep a simple fact in mind that some people have NEVER operated any sort of power tool or used a tool for that matter.  They may have been doing different things.  I get it use its a pretty provocative posting from Rockler  but even though I am ticked off at Rockler for OTHER reasons than that post.  Its no reason to judge someone that may NOT know the safety or how toos of basic power tools.  So Id honestly suggest maybe not being so harsh or critical on the subject.  There was a point in all of our lives where NONE of US even on this forum site and any other wood working site where we never once knew how to operate a power tool.  So just keep that in mind.  Yes I'm playing devils advocate here.

Well, maybe the internet and Google have changed things, but if you consider the audience that Rockler might attract...

Well to be fair.... ROCKLER made the post.  They alone are at fault for this if anything does happen with wrong audiences because of it.  So I don't think its anything to worry about on certain terms.  They may even loose customers over the situation.  Either way it was posted.  The company will either gain from it or seek the ramifications of a bad post. Plain and Simple.  Youtube is a beast with numbers of trolls.  So give it some time and we shall see what happens.

Maybe someone should make a youtube video on "how to be a parent!"  They already have the first part down, but then it gets difficult.

Sadly@JimM there are already youtube videos on that very subject out there.  Easy enough to just search.

Wow!  It would have never occurred to me to search for that!  Knowing how big tech is so manipulative, I find that scary.

A friend once said, "We're not raising our kids, we're raising the parents of our grandchildren."

I would phrase it differently: "Should YOU be a parent?". It strikes me that some people shouldn't be.
