October 5, 20205 yr Popular Post I had a good, easy weekend of it. Weather has been beautiful and may continue like this for the next few days. Everything has been moved out of the dining area and on Saturday I got hung up on a small wall repair. Nothing major, but enough for me to get out the mud - so that got a second coat yesterday and may allow me to sand and paint it today. Saturday evening I took the Plymouth up to the local cruise in. They had a pretty good sized turn out, and quite a few folks came just to see the cars. And the Georgia-Auburn game had a very satisfying conclusion: 27-6 Georgia! Yesterday I milled a few pieces of additional trim that I will need later in the week, got them primed and one coat of paint. I hope I don't jinx anything here, but I really feel like I am in the short rows here with this years remodel project. I will be laying LVT and doing trim work this week in the dining area. Still no definite word on window treatments...
October 5, 20205 yr Popular Post I'm spending time proving to myself that my choice to never hand cut DT joints is the correct one. Fiddling around with my Jennings bit box, at the moment I'm trying the hand cut DT route. It may not work out, if it does I'll post pics...if not it's kindling.
October 5, 20205 yr Popular Post Just hanging out, waiting for a time for our final wlk though prior to closing on our new place.
October 5, 20205 yr Popular Post I believe I have made all the holders for all the sockets in home box. Last few are in finishing room now. Now I want a light over the box. 😂

It took a while but I really enjoy hand cutting them. I switched to a Japanese pull saw and that made all the difference for me. Seems to give me more control. I still have to practice on some scrap before doing them- not much muscle memory (or any other memory) left. Unlike @steven newman, I've only attempted through dovetails- half blind ones are still in the future. This would probably make a great thread. Tips, jigs, processes, etc. on hand cut dovetails. October 5, 20205 yr Popular Post I finally got both water heaters installed over the weekend and no leaks and I even changed the whole house water filter.. and the old clock I repaired is in the car ready to deliver and wife is finishing up painting the house. I do the caulking and repairs if need be and she does the painting. You know,,,,,,I finally quit gripping on how she done things in the past and now its all praises. Funny too for I see more smiles from this beautiful person as the reward. I am also starting to build a stand for the bench grinder I won in the drawing. I am trying to build an old cast iron cream seperator base thats been in our family 100 or so years for the grinder to be mounted on? There has got to be some drawers and or things in between those things to get the height of the grinder up to the users hands...!!

October 5, 20205 yr May not get anything done today. Got new iphone and bluetooth is not working and cxannot text wife so off to the store I go
October 5, 20205 yr I do use my band saw quite a bit although the thickness it can cut is somewhat limited.
October 5, 20205 yr Popular Post We needed to register to vote and get our D/Ls changed to reflect our new address. Plus, mine had my name as Gene, and that's actually not my legal name. So, that needed to be changed, too. Was dreading the the DMV lines and their inevitable hassles with the name change. But, we were in and out in 30 minutes. They didn't even need to see the passport I'd brought for ID. Including getting registered to vote. So, to celebrate, we stopped in at a mom and pop diner for a breakfast of B&G and eggs.
October 6, 20205 yr Popular Post Kept and cooked for the 2 grandchildren. Can't even remember what all I did, but I did get 2 rolling pins turned. One was good and the other will become a hash brown smasher. It had too much bark and even when I turned it down to make a pie crust, it still had too much bark. So, it will be used for something else. Today, repaired a garden rake. The handle kept coming off, so it is basically repaired. Put a coat of wax on the handle. Then was asked to help our son change out a transmission filter on a 2003 Honda Accord. What a pain! And, we have high surf coming to town again. Another Job experience coming to us. How lucky can we be?
October 6, 20205 yr Popular Post After quite a bit of time working on details I was able to set up sockets like I want They are sorted metric to left in blue. SAE to right in red and torx bits are in black holders. The gray tray is adapters. System is set up much like toolbox at work. Just in upper tray of toolbox. At work I have all of them in a drawer at waist height. With this box configuration that just is not possible. We work with what we have though.
