We're headed for tucson with a pick up and trailer load of shop stuff to put in storage tomorrow. The household movers arent due until 9/22. We close escrow on this place 9/24. Means a couple days in a motel.

A fire has closed the main road from here to tucson. So today's trip will probably be 2 to 3 hours longer than normal.

We made an offer on two rural homes yesterday. Both have large shops and are on an acre +. Hopefully, we are able to get one of them so our stuff won't be in storage too long.

This has been one hectic, confusing and labor intensive two weeks. Moving is not recommended for old guys!

@John Morris - so sorry for your loss.  After losing our last cat I said no more pets, but then a couple months ago a feral cat, kitten really, came onto the scene and has been hanging around like she owns the place.  I am good with that, haven't seen a single chipmonk since she's been here:) and I've seen her catch a squirrel.

My weekend is paint, paint, paint - and mow the lawn.  Don't know what happened to that rain that Steve sent up, but I haven't seen it yet:D

Same here when I went outside, and did nothing.

We cancelled an outdoor event for Saturday because "the most accurate weather" was predicting rain Thurs, Fri, and 2" on Saturday.   We got about 10 minutes yesterday and partly cloudy today.

But it's humid.   This is as far south as I ever want to live.

My turkey fryer (of all things) is on my bench. I was planning to can some tomatoes over the next few days, and I use the turkey fryer to scald the tomatoes so I can peel them. But mine had a clogged burner tube where a mud dauber wasp built her nest. So I'm trying to get it functional again.

My fingers are crossed for your offers Gene, hope it works out. As for the being old and moving, been there-done that, and I never want to do it again. That said...if I was a little closer (well, maybe 1800 miles closer) I'd give you a hand!

John, I am so sorry for such a tremendous loss.  Yes, they become family and give wonderful memories.

@lew , I am so sorry that you lost 2 cats.  We, too, have lost too many pets over the years.  The last one went about 6 years ago and I can't do it again.  While we have wonderful memories and stories, we just can't bear the responsibilities anymore.

Gunny, great project.  Andrew has pens to make.  I have the same thing after I get all these rolling pins made.  One more box to make to put together for daughter-in-law, then on to pins and pens.  Will be trying those wonderful new gouges.  I need to call Jim.

Have a great weekend.  We have had plenty of rain.  I need to get out my biggest fan to get the rain as far north as Cal.  I am suspicious that the PO gave it to FedEx to get it lost.  :D  I know that Gunny got some.  And, our hurricane went to clean off the lawn at the capital area.  :P

Gene, I hope you have success on that property with the 1+ acres with the outbuildings.  That would be a much more comfortable place as you may not have all that lawn care, but have enough room to stretch your legs without being in someone else's face.  Please keep us updated on your success.  Yes, I am too old to move.  They'll just have to take me out on a stretcher.  B)

After 8 hrs on the road, we made it to Tucson. Truck and trailer is unloaded and, the tools are now in storage.

Long drive but, the scenery was fabulous. Went from our high desert up to and across the continental divide among some gorgeous deciduous and evergreen forests. Then, finally dropping down to the desert floor of Tucon. Probably be here until Wednesday.

Gator, one of the places has desert landscaping. Aloes, prickly pear and saguaros and various other cacti, with strategically placed desert rocks. The other one has no plantings whatsoever. Just desert. NO GRASS on either place. Both have 6' chain link around the property to keep out the javalina, bob cats and, coyotes. Doesn't do much for the lizards, scorpions and rattlesnakes, though.

Yep, sounds like Kubota just lost a sale! That's probably a good thing.
