Late start, been under the weather, a bit.....:Punched:

Got bored a bit...needed to resaw a few parts, or at least start a few.   Had 10 blanks...tossed out one, too many defects..Tablesaw to get the others the same width....after ripping one edge straight....made a mess doing that:rolleyes:

1276359244_JulyProjectsawdustmaker.JPG.a5332dedd98600691460c15c5f38923d.JPG

There goes the spotless floor....reset the fence, to allow a zero clearance overlay....and set about deadcenter for the stock...

1967622967_JulyProjectresawsetup.JPG.32b4a9f6ad68686fab8ef8413108cc23.JPG

About 3/8" between the fence and the blade....then ran the blanks through....bad planning, blade didn't reach to the 1/2 halfway point.:BangingHead:

We have ways...

1339384379_JulyProjectoldblade.JPG.d186dac4c2cab75e247c4123d64b9196.JPG

One on the right, shows how much I missed being the right height...will plane that flat...later :ArguingSmileys:

Will put a new blade on the bandsaw..later..

809904256_JulyProjectnewblade.JPG.63c8cd94fee2333b66a1e9c82877792f.JPG

1/2" wide, at that.

242898390_JulyProjectLongAsh2.JPG.5d8d77d080ebac0cf11a6424fd53f30e.JPG

Have two Ash boards, that need the edges re-done, then I'll rip these for thickness.   Same with the Pine one..

1679504866_JulyProjectLongPineknots.JPG.48dcaef81744731ef0446f617dc17084.JPG

If only to get rid of the knots...need drawer parts.....will also rip the 1 x 4 for thickness..:ChinScratch:

Drawer parts :WonderScratch: Single Brain Cell Sketch Up is working on the details.

May find some use for these two....:ChinScratch:

Stay tuned...:cowboy:

Single Brain Cell Sketch Up has yet to provide a plan.....working merely from a cut list, right now. :Tapping:   Something about a lidded box with drawers???:WonderScratch::ChinScratch::ph34r:

2 larger, wider panels may provide a lid, and a back....waiting to see what the sides will be......:ChinScratch:  There may be a few panels glued up :WonderScratch:, and not all drawers will be full width...:WonderScratch:

Passing up on a couple Yard Sales....not enough cash this week  :BangingHead:

Still early....completion date is the end of July....:DevilLaughing:

Stay tuned :cowboy:

Hmmmm.....spent part of the other day watching a DISNEY Movie called The Scarecrow.  Dr. Christopher Syn, pastor by day, smuggler by night, set at a place called Dymchurch, Rominy March, KENT, ENGLAND...thinking about making a mask like his..:DayDreaming:.its that LAUGH I'd have problems with...

Now, about last night's follies..:OldManSmiley:..ran all the Ash squares through the 1/4" bandsaw...no real problems..:WonderScratch:

540274287_JulyProjectbandsawdone.JPG.ce5b9dfe181c515fb6337c3590a05c60.JPG

Now have 9 pairs.   Will need planed flat, later.   Ran two bigger Ash scraps through the tablesaw...both were 1 x 6 though..I also ran the Pine 1 x 6 through.

Ran the pine through the bandsaw, no problems...B).however...the 2 Ash ones were a bit ....stubborn.:BangingHead:...First tried the new 1/2" wide blade....pure junk, a big kerf like that should have been easy for the blade to follow...:ArguingSmileys:

603878181_JulyProjectbandsawissues.JPG.9035ee05cf0ae295c998556f37c2249d.JPG

NOT! :ArguingSmileys: Then the bandsaw started to throw the v belt off the pulley, and onto the floor...:ArguingSmileys:.spent 1/2 an hour trying to get that fixed....even with the 1/4" blade :MachineGun:back on.. Sooo:ChinScratch:

1034042658_JulyProjectripsawwork.JPG.1f2bd120fd50ce5a1131dce7879aab59.JPG

First the 5-1/2 tooth per inch....had a hitch in the giddy-up....was cutting fine, just that catch..:BangingHead:...switched out to the fresh from the sharpener 7 ppi saw, the D-115B)

215246118_D-115sharpened.JPG.f3e0a674df0016e69d2683a80a2d555c.JPG

Even the handle felt better.   Results?:WonderScratch:

1400105819_JulyProjectdefects....aftertheripsaws.JPG.7e50b48ba6dea3deb26180ece2931afd.JPG

Edges need work.  Rough spot is where the bandsaw went off on it's own way....need to straight-line the edges ( knot removal) and set up to run the planes..:ChinScratch:

1028512293_JulyProjectreadyfortheplane.JPG.1ac721a91cfbcb53d21ec8b8a2c9161b.JPG

Then...the board hopped out the Dog's grasp,  Uncle Sir Charles did a number on me toes and calves....didn't even bother to sweep up...just hobbled up the stairs, and called it a night.:BangingHead:   Didn't even rip the pine 1 x 4. :WhoMe:   May try again, later today....maybe.

Stay tuned :cowboy:

Well, rearend was getting numb from sitting and laying around all the live long day....Did a test run in the shop.  Time was limited to either 1 hour, or when I started to get tired...

1069670574_JulyProject3amigos.JPG.7fa3578d69fc9c8317b2618bd4cd31c3.JPG

Put these three to work...good thing they are SHARP.  Sargent No. 414c was needed for jointing a few edges,  Stanley No. 4, Type 10 had quite a bit of work...face planing Pine and Ash...Millers Falls No. 11 also helped out.  they were the easiest to get to..

2057280025_JulyProjectinreserve.JPG.e075f13ee12ffd8696ce07ae99721964.JPG

These were on "Standby"....Pine 1 x 6...was easy to resaw down...but, the difference between the tablesaw kerf and the bandsaw kerf..

643343466_JulyProjecttobefixed.JPG.a8a6b57864709b6d3420c6d1b60d9ca3.JPG

And those knots....all needed to be planed down smooth...No. 11, then the No. 4

99152099_JulyProjectonedone.JPG.20aba2adbb920db824f205bb849738c7.JPG

One done. the other "half" of this board had other "Issues"..

686595233_JulyProjectcutline.JPG.e0c7b1542e2cfb6f4d063d761828fcb6.JPG

Caused by the tablesaw....Wound up just sawing this off at the "cut line"

Then planed the rest smooth

The one Ash 1 x 6 was planed smooth...and the wavy edge jointed straight....left the knot alone for now...may just rip that edge to remove the knotty edge.

4 boards down two to go....as soon as I can split the 1 x 7 apart....had tried the 1/2" blade the other day...meh...switched to the 1/4" blade and tried again...

Was about 3/4s from making it to the end.....bandsaw motor dies....no smoke, no hmm....turn the switch off, then back on....blade moves SLOWLY for maybe an inch, and stops

(Still have a spare motor for it...just need to switch them out...later)

So...dug out the D-115..

1955417928_D-115handledetails.JPG.02efca7a7eb0cf37770fd45e3483cff5.JPG

7ppi....can be used as a Fine cut Rip saw.    Clamped the board into the bench vise...and did the Cardio Workout...did not take all that long...

855256552_JulyProjectbadbandsawblade.JPG.b73e3db54c3b2969c1f540faf058a6c8.JPG

So...circled area is from the 1/2" blade, then the next brown strip is the 1/4" blade's....and then the handsaw's.   Those black swirl marks at the far end are from the tablesaw.

Next time in the shop....need to either belt sand this smooth, or plane it smooth, or a mixture of both.   these two are 7" wide each.   May see about a case (top and two ends) or do a glue up for a lid.  Then the other 6" wide Ash board could be the case sides....and a Pine back?

Swept the mess up..

260564411_JulyProjectmessyday.JPG.9600db8c3f09c65434220da7ecb53c26.JPG

And haul the Laundry upstairs....just about one hour of shop time....(running the wire wheel to clean tools up is not billed as "shop time")

Stay tuned....Took Saturday and now Sunday off.....

Trying to slowly get back to the shop....thought I'd try to get the Ash parts flattened down, and maybe some edges jointed...can't do a whole lot..:ArguingSmileys:

760070239_JulyProjectburiedsaw.JPG.bbef300cb9146704078026a04838934c.JPG

Saw seems to have been buried. :BangingHead:  As for the bandsaw....need to remove a dead motor..:DevilLaughing:

1892053141_JulyProjectdeadmotor.JPG.2fa8a30a5d2757d426ebe44d53949dc9.JPG

And replace it with the OEM motor I kept as a spare...:OldManSmiley:

1686549333_JulyProjectsparemotor.JPG.6ea052b2577f21cfb3bc24da26dbd298.JPG

Will need the floor jack brought down to the shop...makes things easier to lift or lower one of these...and hold one in place, while I work on the mounting bolts.:MachineGun:

As for the Ash parts....I stopped at Menard's yesterday, and picked up a 50grit, 3" x 21" sanding belt.....today I gave that belt a workout...along with a few planes..:BugEyeSmiley:

1439063698_JulyProjectplanesinuse.JPG.8bcb29a1c496e3ee90aafb3a7bfa88b1.JPG

Was finally able to get 6 drawer front blanks cleaned up..

310274006_JulyProjectdrawerfrontblanks.JPG.aa5a55f371d486e5d5009cbc1b12daa3.JPG

Need to make these all the same size...there are also 4 dividers...

24861040_JulyProjectdrawerdividers.JPG.e3596cb2b0c918e922fb025cb7c391b2.JPG

These will show, behind them will be Pine.   I also got the case parts cleaned up..and edges jointed..

1926720412_JulyProjectcaseparts.JPG.dbea3a86c70de859e0583cfef0def20a.JPG

4 Ash panels, 2 Pine panels....haven't decided on a base/bottom..yet..:WonderScratch:

Had the shop fan blowing on me, set on HIGH....didn't help. :ArguingSmileys:  toes in the left foot started to cramp up..:ArguingSmileys:

Sweep the place, and closed up for the day...about an hour's worth, again....at this rate, MIGHT have this done by Labor Day?:ChinScratch:

Stay tuned.   :cowboy:

Ok...time to get caught up..maybe?:WonderScratch:

haven't worked on the bandsaw..yet...tablesaw?

2079235331_JulyProjectclearedforaction.JPG.e56cc9f3aadcbf1ac282166eb19c7f40.JPG

Was cleaned off...parts  run through for size and square...

1848313023_JulyProject6drawerfronts.JPG.bd245a9fda8366603e870c64e4a3dfbf.JPG

6 drawer front blanks...ends squared to match each other, ripped to width..for now:OldManSmiley:

1850038796_JulyProjectdrawerdividers.JPG.ad63999b3ded2b7b936812f68d4f475a.JPG

These were to be dividers between the drawers...had other plans for these...sorted through to find 4 of the better looking ones.:Tapping:

Then ran a few strips of Ash through....

1508191958_JulyProjectmoreparts.JPG.2057b1f1d7270587d74b1b3895c8cca8.JPG

There WAS a third one....had a use for it.

378270939_JulyProjectsidepanelparts.JPG.a666ce21869debe20af81669f216aea7.JPG

Those best looking dividers? Well, now 4 are to be glued up into a pair of panels..:ChinScratch:

797092149_JulyProjectsidepanel.JPG.f047fb24c7926d4399129eb5e54d504b.JPG

(Dry fit) and these will become the sides of the case...got to about here, and took a break for a day...:GoodNight:

Ok. the plan for today...was to get 3 panels glued up.   2 sides, and a panel for the lid....before the clothes dryer made the shop to warm to work in...

Side #1....had issues with staying flat...so:ph34r:

506836921_JulyProjectside1.JPG.58908ef6647f0daef8b365cb34f26cdf.JPG

Cauls and lots of C clamps to make sure it stayed flat...spring clamps are holding a second caul....set this aside..

Side#2...had other "issues"   filler strip down the middle was too fat...Millers Falls No.11 thinned it down....one edge was too rough, was jointed smooth..clamping went a bit better..

750985641_JulyProjectside2.JPG.91d761fed75052c09ad3fa47c31ef13d.JPG

But..I need to stock up on 2" and 3" c clamps, sometime.  :ChinScratch:  Set this aside..so the real "fun" can start...:PullingHair:

2066180153_JulyProjectpanelready.JPG.85ab155ebf06ea4a491c52b5f7d873e9.JPG

These two.(dry fit)..are about to become a panel for the Lid.  Whether they like it, or not. :ArguingSmileys: Edges needed jointed....took a few tries, too..had one corner that wanted to be...stubborn.. Was trying to get a gap-free joint...in hopes of just a "rub glue joint"....bead of glue, moosh things back and forth until things "stick".....worked until I turned my back...:ArguingSmileys:

Added a caul, and then stuck the two piece back together....adding cauls and clamps...fighting with one certain clamp..:MachineGun:.that wanted to keep slipping back off the edge..:BangingHead:

1169461027_JulyProjectLidunderside.JPG.eae34440ae63818e35dc5e26f36363dd.JPG

Second from the right...that little round dics was a slippery devil..:DevilLaughing:..this is the underside of the panel.  The "Show" side?

1219131188_JulyProjecttopsidelid.JPG.af5dbab87b932f623884512c5d76ba8e.JPG

Will need a bit of clean up...  Then I sorted through the stack of drawer front blanks..trying to find 3 that almost matched each other...

1144061769_JulyProjectlowerdrawerfronts.JPG.7767744a15b83680b5ac21f6fa881626.JPG

Not too bad?   These will be the bottom drawers....top drawers need to be about half as deep...:ChinScratch:

1171615847_JulyProjectupperdrawerfrontblanks.JPG.40e204b45977a85d58e2e240017a9eae.JPG

Because right above these 3 will be the floor of a compartment....that the lid will cover.

Back and bottom of the case will be Pine plywood...~ 1/4" thick....except right at the compartment, I'll change to Ash...along with the floor.   Dividers will now be Ash strips, covering the Pine dividers.   Will also wrap the bottom in Ash.  Mainly wanted to get the panels glued up, than start from there.  :WonderScratch:

Finger joints?   Too thin for dovetails.....Drawer bottoms will be 5mm Luann....

Stay tuned..:cowboy:

Start time: 1400 hrs..stop time 1500hrs..:Tapping:..2 sides came out of the clamps.  Used those to size the plywood bottom panel

1368420892_JulyProject2sidesandabottom.JPG.8038e5f6417446498d473ea51a56b26c.JPG

Then used a drawer blank to lay out a few lines..

1050541679_JulyProjectlayoutwork.JPG.1b7b2edc129bd24ee8d16a69c83d4364.JPG

Where the drawer dividers will go...ripped the upper drawer fronts to size..and figured out the front of the top compartment...laid all the parts out, to see how they will look

342265094_JulyProjectfrontviewparts.JPG.1b1336de9369efb146d4b8adb8bc01fa.JPG

And sized a plywood back, to go with the Ash top...

650771268_JulyProjectPartsfortheback.JPG.8ec7004c83036d1de8b7b3f91c07abb5.JPG

Needed a floor for the compartment..so..

29406640_JulyProjectcompartmentfloorpanel.JPG.882995cff9ab10ab130ce708d8166ffc.JPG

Ash panel...so when you lift the lid, everything will look the same...as for what the drawers will slide on/under..:OldManSmiley:

1244601639_JulyProjectdrawerfloor.JPG.e5487dabc8d6103ef0895daff79fee03.JPG

This is what the upper drawers will slide on.   Will get an Ash strip along the front edge, since that will show.  :ChinScratch:

Thought about  taking the clamps of the lid blank....:WhoMe:

1171111599_JulyProjectLiddry....JPG.3db05144d5f074de3f07db9e9f1a20b1.JPG

Decided to just let well enough alone...will wait until the case is assembled, and then trim this to size needed...

Have to lay out all the shallow dados, grooves and rebates...set up the saws and planes....maybe Sunday?  :WonderScratch:  Then try for some assembly next week?:Tapping:

Stay tuned...:cowboy:
