November 22, 20196 yr Popular Post So for the past three weeks or so we’ve been covered up working in the shop or at my part time job so I’ve been absent from the site. This weekend is one of our biggest shows and it started by setting up Wednesday evening and runs through Saturday evening. Today our hours are 9-9. just trying to have enough inventory has been a real push but we’ve gotten most of it done. I’ve made close to 100 boards in the past three weeks. We have a nice corner booth inside an atrium. Tickets to get in to shop are $10.00 so these are serious shoppers. I made some round boards with a small handle this year cutting them out on the CNC. and we tie an antique or vintage spreading knife to them. We made end grain boards in three sizes, large pictured above, medium and small. Small one on the left medium on the right. Above are cheese boards with the antique or vintage knife and we do a bread board with a small bowl for putting you dipping herbs in. Another look at some of the display. We also had our cornhole boards there and sold five sets yesterday. So I apologize for being absent lately but we have been busy and ready to wrap up this season. We’ll take a small break next week and then finish out the year filling Christmas orders. So what’s on your Patriot Woodworker agenda this weekend. Love to see you projects and hear about what your making in your shop. Have a great weekend and have fun and be safe.

November 22, 20196 yr Popular Post With Thanksgiving next week, prep has started for that at out house so I'm not sure how much time I'll get for anything else. But I do have to start a second desk for the upstairs "office", and a printer stand to match the basement desk I just completed.
November 22, 20196 yr Popular Post John, your display areas are always inspiring. You have a gift for design that is readily apparent in your product placement, as well as in your fabulous woodworking. Got the IL walnut lumber haul unloaded, stickered and, stacked yesterday. The maple and cherry shorts were dry. No need for stickers. Pictures later.
November 22, 20196 yr Popular Post Great Scotts! You all have been busy John! Your display has got to be one of the best of show there. The work is beautiful and I love the personal touches you put on the cheese boards, with the vintage spreader knives, those should go over very well. I hope you have a sellout show this year, and I wish you the best. Hopefully you'll be able to get some rest to for Christmas? There has to be a cut off point some time where you just sit down and say, ok, that's it, it's time for Christmas. You better! This weekend I need to get back on my son's cherry desk. I finished the shaker rocker, and it's up for sale now, all the proceeds are being donated to my college kids missionary group who are fund raising right now for their summer trip to a far off land. "If" I am able to get my sons desk going again, I'll have an update on that project this weekend. Cheers everyone, and have a wonderful weekend!

November 22, 20196 yr Popular Post Going to Hartvile Hardware today for their Tool Sale and Expo. Starts today. Will get some shop time in Saturday and Sunday. https://www.hartvillehardware.com/events
November 22, 20196 yr Popular Post John hope your weekend is better than the 3 hour sale we did this week . Just barely got my booth back but my partner did much better. @Gene Howe got a line on some walnut but I do not think it will be as good as your deal. However only 50 miles away.
November 22, 20196 yr Popular Post @Gerald, true enough. The walnut was a great deal. But, it was a 3300 mile round trip, involving 5 motel stays, several restaurant meals and, close to 300 gallon of fuel. Not to mention, wife and I lost 10 days of work...oops...were retired. Scratch that. In reality, we've made that trip several times and, it's always great to spend time with family and old friends. We thoroughly enjoyed the experience. The wood was a bonus.
November 22, 20196 yr Popular Post I’m making waffle trivets. I took an order for three of them from my Etsy store and realized that I sold all but five at the show two weeks ago. Panic build mode because I sell a lot of them at Christmas.
November 22, 20196 yr Popular Post glued up a maple picture frame for my wife's latest counted cross stitch work. add some corner splines tomorrow, then a few coats of poly. cut glass and finish things off next week, and then hang somewhere in the house.
November 22, 20196 yr Popular Post Finish up a few desk clocks, some assembly on one. Form our plan for Thanksgiving dinner.
November 23, 20196 yr Popular Post Working on the rest of the frame support. Then on to applying the skins to the front and back of both doors for my deck closet.
November 23, 20196 yr Author Popular Post We had an awesome day today. Crowd was good all day. We took orders for 8 Cornhole boards and we sold our demo set we had at the show. We started with 25 large end grain boards and at the end of the day we had 8 left for tomorrow. We’re almost out of breadboards and cheeseboards. Only got five medium boards and we started with 15. It’s looking like we could sell out tomorrow. catch you all later in the weekend.
November 23, 20196 yr Popular Post John - y'all got it going on!! I am still working in the kitchen, hope to hang some trim on the ceiling and a couple pendant lights this weekend. Also working with our local building supply on a countertop selection and "agreeable" price for same... I thought I might post up a pip this morning, but for whatever reason the phone has stopped talking with the computer. Edited November 23, 20196 yr by Cal
November 23, 20196 yr Popular Post Is it still Friday?? I picked up and load of old pallets and the shop (which is and kinda still is a disaster) so I can make a new mess! I have 4 days of PTO ahead and dug these out! Got a little polishing to do as they have been boxed for 15 years! Feeling sad...Anyway... It’s been awhile since I sat down to carve. On a positive note, the “repair and maintenance” stitches came out of my wrist Thursday and Dr. says I am go! And, with Christmas coming, I have something to try as a gift. What a better way to see if the wrist is really as good as it feels and to see how bad the skills have gotten, all at the same time! If the plan works and embarrassment level is tolerable, perhaps I will share soon... Enjoy your weekend, all! Edited November 23, 20196 yr by Bundoman
