Bundoman Posted October 22, 2019 Report Posted October 22, 2019 I have been watching for one but have not found one that I want to afford in recent history. When I didn’t want one, they were around! Anyone else experienced this? Lol FlGatorwood, p_toad, Artie and 1 other 4 Quote

When I didn’t want one, they were around! Anyone else experienced this? Lol Yep, there is a huge demand for bodger type tools and anything that has to do with bushmaster type work. Froes, carving axes, adzes, they are all in high demand for the last few years. Our craft has taken a wonderful turn towards green woodworking and it's become very popular over the last 5 years or so and there is no sign of letting up. Right now, if you anyone wanted to get into blacksmithing they'd do very well as long as they are turning out a good tool. Even though there appears to be many hatchets, axes, and adzes on Ebay, they are the wrong type. The froes I have seen on Ebay are either made very cheaply, or they are overpriced, but the market does support overpriced tools sold as green woodworking tools. Makers of green woodworking tools have back orders a year long, as a buyer you sign up to be on their waiting list, then if you are lucky you get invited to purchase their tools when they build up their inventory, and the inventory sells within a day of it going public. It's crazy, great for the makers, but for the customers, it's a pain. Gunny, FlGatorwood, p_toad and 1 other 4 Quote
