April 2, 20197 yr Popular Post @John Morris Glad to see you took some time for yourself, instead of focusing on our petty peeves here. Looks like you had some real fun making those boards and learning the SS.
April 2, 20197 yr Popular Post I have a negative view about starting a special folder for Shopsmith. I don't think it would get much traffic or usage. I think by keeping the SS topics mixed into the main stream, others will have exposure and learn from our mistakes or problems and accomplishments. Learning about the various tools is much more preferred by me. BTW, the drilling of pocket screws can be done on any drill press on which the table will tilt. Tilt the table to 12 or 14 degrees and you can drill. If you start a dimple in the wood, the bit will drift very little.

April 2, 20197 yr Author The existing Shopsmith Forum can't be beat, nor would I try, it's just a wonderful place with all kinds of resources, I'll shelve the idea here for now.

Just put on the chuck first, ensure you tighten the headstock, tilt the table to 14 degrees from center. Just start drilling at the marks you have created. If you wish to have the hole go all the way through, you can keep the same setup and use a smaller bit. Or just buy a Kreg bit.

April 3, 20197 yr I guess I’m gonna have to have The Patriot Woodworker Shopsmith Forum banquet, here in Ma., by myself. (Maybe Al will show up as a supporting member).
April 3, 20197 yr So sorry, Artie. Maybe about July or August when it is so hot here, I'll sneak up with a box of donuts. Oh, all Krispie Kreme.
