  • I really am not much for a plan.  Most of them go sideways 10 seconds after they get started so what's the point?  I work off the principle of just make it up as I go along.  Now if you want people to

Plans are helpful in knowing where to pound in the 8 penny nails. :P

But don't you have to use one of those sticks with the big lines, little lines and itty-bitty lines between the little lines?

Welcome aboard Steve.  That is a beautiful table.  What type of wood did you use for it and what did you use for a finish.

And blueberry pie for me please since it is already pi day down under (I think).

Thanks Cal.

So the legs are made from Tasmanian oak, and the top is beech. I finished the table using clear polyurethane based on good recommendations from my local paint shop. It's the same poly as used for floors due to its hard-wearing nature. He was right, it's been great so far.

Welcome to the forum Steve

Nice looking Table!!!!

After seeing what the required attire is for the Donuts or pie, I think I'll pass. I'm sure stick will look mighty fine in the Lederhosen eating donuts and doing snow angels though.

Welcome Steve, When I saw that picture I was scratching my head,"Where have I seen that mug before"?  Good to see you here.  I don't use nails anymore, I use screws, pound them in and screw them out.

Glad to have you aboard Steve. You do pretty nice work for a fledgling. I may have to re-classify myself as a pre -apprentice.

8 penny nails are used to build pieces of art, not related to woodwork.

Hi Steve, and welcome. I also got my invite from Gene to come here (not sure the guys here have forgiven him for that, yet LOL). I’m a newbie to WW’ing, and the people here have been very helpful, and supportive. Welcome.

Hi, Steve, sorry I'm late to the party. See what happens when you're not glued to the computer...people sneak in!

I'm glad to see that you have left the "dark side" and have shown up at a truly great site. Pull up a chair, pour a cup of coffee (or tea in your case) and join the party. Hope you brought your sense of humor (which from the posts above it appears that you have) and jump right in.  Every day you can find us, busting each others..., er, ah, teasing each other over something or another...sometimes we even do some woodworking.

I agree, some awesome work for an neophyte...now about that pie and ice cream...

Thanks everyone for the warm welcome. I enjoyed my pi, and now since it's Friday 15th I can try and sleep it off at my desk at work ;)
