February 8, 20197 yr Popular Post Last Friday I got busy early and my good friend Ron stepped in and posted for me. I worked quite a bit at the range and tried to squeeze in some time in the shop. Josh has been doing most of the work with me coaching. We we have worked on and off this huge cross for some time and they were finally to hang it so we got it finished and delivered. Made of Solid Cherry and dyed a blood red for the Blood of Christ and the white Maple down the center to represent the purity. They got if hung and said it was very heavy. They had access to the back of the wall and put blocking in to attach it from the back. We’re about ready to start assembly of the Red Elm Kitchen work table. I just like turning the feet and I should get them this weekend. And we are close to finishing a White Oak slab top executive desk. drawers on the left and door on the right with shelves inside. Door fronts will have a live edge on them. A center door and we will be ready to assemble. So so what’s on your agenda this weekend? I love to see your projects and pictures. Share your projects here and show us your plans this weekend. Whatever you you do have fun and be safe.
February 8, 20197 yr Popular Post Subbing today. Need to work on Mom's taxes this weekend. Hope to get to the lathe and work some more with that new Easy Wood Tools live center.
February 8, 20197 yr Popular Post That's an absolutely gorgeous cross, John. And, the desk is going to be a beauty. I finished multi functional router jig yesterday. In the pics below, it's in the coping position. When it's turned 90 degrees and the clamp bar is reversed, its a small parts holder for edge routing. The third image is for celebrating a, hopefully, good Dr. Visit this afternoon. Who am I kidding? Good or not, I'll have a wee nip, any way.
February 8, 20197 yr Popular Post A very beautiful cross John. Is it to be permanent? Hope you get some great news today Gene.
February 8, 20197 yr Popular Post John, That is a fantastic looking cross and desk. Remember when I told you that you would be busier after you retired. That has come true but it's doing things that you enjoy and are good at!
February 8, 20197 yr Popular Post I installed and trimmed a fireplace mantle today. Next project is a California king bed for a client. When I bid the mantle job, the trim up the side wasn’t part of the quote. The contractor that built the fireplace didn’t plan the transition from the tile front to the brick sides so guess who got to figure it out. Hence the blue tape holding the trim until the Locktite PL3X dries.
February 8, 20197 yr Popular Post John that is a great looking cross and that desk looks massive. @Gene Howethat is a great jig plan . Where did you find it? Been cutting wood for turning off a giant pecan and barely made a dent. Also Next weekend is club meeting with Jimmy Clewes and guess who is coordinating.
February 8, 20197 yr Popular Post @John Moody...A Cross of Majesty....superb work...that has to be quite humbling. Is the top on that desk 5/4 or 6/4? Regardless it's not going to blow away. You'll need LOTS of help to move that...it certainly will stand the test of time. Can't wait to see it completed. @Ron Dudelston...nice work on the mantle plus save with the trim. Green tape would have color coordinated better with the brick, tile and molding.
February 8, 20197 yr Not much happening; swim season is over. Another weekend held weather hostage. Girls are at the State Swim meet tonight; PU ~11. Church is hosting a Valentine's dinner tomorrow night; Apparently I'm signed up to attend. Funny, I don't remember signing my name. Church services Sunday...Daughter and two grandsons will miss; oldest grandson won tickets via his Cub Scout troop for the all day Monster Truck Jam at Lucas Oil Stadium...boys love their monster trucks.
February 8, 20197 yr Popular Post maybe make 2 new window screen frames. and then figure out how to protect the bottom half (60" tall) from being destroyed by my idiot dog every time she gets excited because there is either a deer or coyote in view. screens are on the inside of the window (crank open out). 1/2" armor plating has been discussed....

February 9, 20197 yr Popular Post Not much going on right now. Trying to stay warm and helping out the better half after her surgery. Might be able to sneak away tomorrow morning for awhile and go to the grandsons basketball game.
February 9, 20197 yr Doc told me my problem was a new one on him. He ordered another bunch of blood and urine tests. Will have the lab test for more things...PSA included. He suspects it's probably just a bladder infection. Won't know more till 2/28.

Seems to happen to us old pharts...BTDT too...take an extra dose of Del Bac tonight...all will be better regardless. Hoping you pass the urine test...next time you'll study harder.
February 9, 20197 yr Popular Post I haven't been on the lathe for quite some time, due to a few things that I wont get into here. However, I will be getting on the lathe tomorrow (It's bedtime now), and hopefully will be able to make some things worth looking at .
February 9, 20197 yr Popular Post Not a whole lot will get done....except getting healed up. Doubt IF I am pushing a 5 pound plane around....would love to just sit at the bench.....bunch of doctor visits over the next week or two....waiting on stitches to disolve away....
