I have spent 30 years cussing the small amount of ceramic tile in our house.  Three bathrooms and a small area by the front door.  The first to start breaking up was in the master bath, then the tiles by the front door began cracking and mortar chipping and breaking out.  Interestingly, two bathrooms have never had any issues.  But, our experience with it made me vow that I would not "ever" put any ceramic tile back in.

This weekend I realized that instead of cussing the tile, I should have been cussing the installer.  Ceramic tile, laid over a bed of mortar, directly to particle board - nothing in between...  I think my daughter at five years old could have told you what would happen.  I have all the underlayment removed from the living room and have started removing the subfloor to sister up the floor joists to get back to a level surface.

Today is shot. Been seeing sporadic blood in my urine. So, I have an appt. for a blood draw at the VA at 09:40. A 10 or 15 minute job but, it's a 100 mile RT. Probably be home in time for lunch and a nap. Then Friday, it's back for the Dr. to tell me what they found....hopefully.

Saturday, we head to Tucson for the latest granddaughter's christening on Sunday. Be home Monday. Then, unless there are more Dr.'s appointments, I should get several uninterrupted days in the shop.

I really appreciate all you do.

I hope it didn't look like I was patting myself on the back, re-reading that post, it sure read that way, but I wasn't, just stating facts. Sorry if it did Lew.

The thanks goes out to all of you, you all do the heavy lifting around here.

Cheers

Thank you, John.  That was very helpful information.

Gene, I hope all your problem heals up quickly and completely.  I hope you were able to return home and I am happy that you get something and service from the VA.  No help to me as a one term service.  No problem.

One day last week, OPM decided it was time I could do my taxes.  So, today, I spent the foggy and rainy part of the day doing taxes.  Guess what?  Yep, right in the middle of doing number, she needed some immediate help.  Oh, well, it's all done and I get a little refund again.  A little better this year and much better than the tax reduction we received in 2003.  At least, I didn't have to pay more.  :OldManSmiley:

Well yesterday I glued up some blanks for another round of planes.

And today I band sawed them out and sanded them to shape.

Tomorrow I will start shaping them to the finish shape, a lot of belt sanding and hand sanding.

Hope your problem is resolved quickly, @Gene Howe!

John

Shaping up to be a busy week! Spent all day Monday delivering a few Christmas (Yes, Christmas) presents to my wife's cousin's family, and hanging a few pictures for them. About a 200 mile round trip. Tuesday to Thursday, we'll be helping our son with his partly finished log house. LOML has been bleaching the exposed wood inside the house, and I will be framing stud walls in the basement. Son's cancer has returned in his lungs,  and exposure to the bleach really affects his breathing. Also, he tires very quickly. Friday I will probably be hibernating! Wish I was 20 again!

It could be that I am shallow, but these fascinate me.  To see them lined up like this is almost mesmerizing.  Absolutely love your work.

Count me in as shallow too then, cause like a little kid with his toy cars lined up, that's how I am seeing these planes...:Praise:

I guess you can just call me "Tatoo"..."look boss, 'de plane, 'de plane":P
