January 13, 20197 yr I have a floor model Delta press and I would like to build an auxiliary table top for it. I've seen lots of plans and designs. I kind of like the Woodsmith version that has a pivoting fence system. Recommendations and comments, please.
January 13, 20197 yr Popular Post I built that one. Modified it a bit for the Shopsmith. It's a good'un. Go for it.

January 13, 20197 yr Popular Post No. I use spring clamps to hold a stop on the fence. Haven't needed a hold down but, one could be made with a piece of scrap and a Destaco type clamp.
January 14, 20197 yr Popular Post I think I got this one out of Wood magazine but might have been Shopsmith. It has slots for hold downs on top and on the side (for drilling long stock on endgrain) . It has served me well . The fence has channel in it for hold down or repeating blocks.
January 14, 20197 yr Post your work, I have yet to make one and tips and issues would be helpful. I got several good tips from here for my mini router table build which is almost done.
January 14, 20197 yr Popular Post This is the one I made for my the old Atlas DP. Disregard the battery in the back that is to operate the HF trailer hitch jack to raise and lower the table.

Probably similar to other plans you've seen already; I had planned to build this first one until I bought the H-F. https://www.wwgoa.com/article/shop-made-drill-press-table-plans/ Another very similar...I personally prefer the rounded corners versus squared as shown in this build. https://www.familyhandyman.com/tools/drills/how-to-build-a-drill-press-table/view-all/ Look at several then incorporate the "best of" features of all into one.

Anyone else try having the replaceable insert set at 45 degrees and slide in and out, no bolts this way and easy to replace? issues with this? Over engineering on my thinking? Oh I meant guessing.. Not over engineering at all. The woodsmith plans call for it.

January 19, 20197 yr Popular Post Here is my Woodsmith drill press table. It's 3/4" BB ply for the base and doubled for the fence. A piece of hardboard has been glued on. It provides a space for the insert and, for the fence clamps. The clamsps are toilet bowl bolts. The pictures should tell the story. The pics are out of order. Had a problem with uploading. Here, the fence is upside down to show the clamp bolts and the aluminum strip to protect t h e wood fence from the stop bolt. Edited January 19, 20197 yr by Gene Howe
