So, on facebook, someone told me about a place called Makerspace. Its less than a mile from my house and has LOTS of toys!!! Planer, joiner, table saw, miter saw, CNC, and so much more! Will have to pay monthly membership dues...but considering my lack of space, its cheaper than paying the other place to do it for me. AND... its climate controlled! I can still do a lot of my work in my shed, but I can also do a lot there!!!

Word of caution though, better start saving $$'s for a bigger shop and all the tools you'll want for your very own...slippery slope.;)

Sound like a great opportunity.

Other pluses; you will meet other people and be able to ask questions and/or get hands on instruction, you will have access to a variety of tools, which will help you choose the right mix and order of necessity to go buy, You will be able to use machines (like the CNC) that you may never have exposed yourself to otherwise. These are just a few things, that, make it a great opportunity.

Exactly. My only problem with the CNC is that I have spent the past telling people that laser cutting pieces was "cheating" LOL

Well, although I don't consider CNC "woodworking" it does have its place. I applaud those who have learned to design and execute a pattern to get done by the machine. The CNC can do some things that are just too time consuming, intricate, or beyond and persons skill set, and they can produce some really stunning results.

Even if you never put it to use, the fun is in learning and being able to do it.

There is one, or similiar about 8 miles from where we live. Like you my interest was in the fact they had a cnc machine. I’m just kinda afraid I’ll break it, cause I have no idea what I’m doing in that regard. This seems to be a touchy subject on the WW’ing forums, I’ll just put my .02$ in, I don’t see the difference in using a cnc machine or a router table, as far as it being woodworking. Different knowledge maybe? But still need the skills to make it happen. Either way a cord gets plugged in, and bits cut the wood/medium. I agree that pictures are a must.

Please don't discourage her to come here.  We need her here so we can help and guide from this collective knowledge base.    And, we all admit that MaD is a lot of fun.  So, we need each other.  Please, Ma, don't desert us!  Please, please, par favor!!!!!

Um! It wasn't meant to run her off, I was just offering a suggestion that she ask questions, and get some hands on instruction, then she can come to us for the accurate information. Jeese, guys, have a little faith.

Ma, do you have a couple of extra cardboard tubes? Somebody needs a beating, and it isn't me!

Ok, here's a corner of book page.  Continue with the beatings.  :throbbinghead:

Doesn't work that way... if you're going to volunteer others for beatings, you get volun-told to participate as well!
