November 17, 20187 yr @Stick486, I mentioned to "The Boss" about the pdf's you sent me, he "must" have changed a setting. I couldn't get them to load either.

I've got a place I have to get back up to by the SIL/BIL pretty much like what you found. The owner inherited it from his dad. (A BIG TIME HOARDER) He just doesn't want to deal with "IT". He's retired and now lives in a condo, and doesn't want to go back to mowing, keeping up to property maintenance, etc.. It's part of the old family farm, the rest was sold to the neighboring farmer some time back. Because of the "HOARDING", He's willing to give us a "SWEEEET" deal on the place. Everyone else that looked at it told him "No Way" , and walked away laughing! He seemed rather happy when the wife, and I looked at each other and said "Here we go again!" We've BTDTx2 already! The wife was back up a few weeks ago, and he was by the SIL/BIL'S place and asked her when we would be coming up. When she told him our financial situation he replied "Don't worry about it, the place is yours. I'm in no hurry to get paid." So now we're trying to figure out how to go about dealing with "IT" and moving our "STUFF". He also told the wife to have me come up with the next time, and we'll work something out. I don't no what, but I'll just have to get back up there to find out. Around here everything would be gone by now, VOE. They stole everything out of my shed on Christmas day while I was gone visiting relatives. It took a good sized truck to do it with more than one person to get my new 16hp riding mower on to it. Herb
November 17, 20187 yr Author I'm sorry to hear that. That is the worst feeling in the world. Where do you mean around here? What is VOE?

November 17, 20187 yr Around there everybody watches out for their neighbors, most all have guns so it helps to deter the unwanted/unwelcomed.

Up there, the thieves know that when people see a car or people they don't recognize, the phones start ringing and that they are being watched as to where they go etc. If they find out from the other neighbors that it is somebody that doesn't belong they all show up and block the drive until the Sheriffs Dept. shows up. Being a small community everybody knows who belongs, and who doesn't. This even applies at night due to the relatively low amount of traffic in the area. Sounds travel a long way when there's not a lot of background noise to drown them out. They seem to have old time values, that are sadly lacking today. I myself like and appreciate that!

November 18, 20187 yr I got another tip for removing silicone from a guy I remember that worked at 5 Star Racing Bodies here in Bristol. He was a fabricator there and worked building the chassis that they also offered at one time. I asked him if they used the high temp silicone based brake fluids in the builds, and he replied "Yes why?" I then asked what they used for cleaning up the brake parts to get that fluid cleaned from the parts, and his reply was "We used the chlorinated brake cleaning fluid, sometimes it would take a couple of washings, but it would do the trick. But make sure to use the chlorinated formula because the non-chlorinated formula wouldn't cut through the silicone based brake fluid." I asked about whether or not if it affected the paint to which he replied "It depended upon what the parts were painted with, some paints it did, others not at all" I'm going to give it a try, it might save me from having to repaint. December 18, 20187 yr Author I just thought I would keep everyone updated on the progress for the Batshop. We officially closed on the home! We had a wonderful time in Minnesota and were treated to 27 degrees and snow when we left Minneapolis and 77 and sunny when we landed in San Antonio. One of my bigger concerns with the Batshop was the electrical as it is not something I will even attempt to DIY. To mine and the pocketbooks relief, the original owners did have 200A ran to the shop as well out to the pole barn. I have a feeling the original owner was a mechanic as in the back part of the shop is where the 220v outlet is for what I imagine to be an air compressor or welder as and there is a tray with air hose fittings in it. I did not have enough time to measure out the two shops to start planning and see which side would be better suited to my needs as the front two car garage area is separate from the back one car garage. The priority was placed on installing new locks and measuring the flooring and countertop sqft so we can start pricing out the different options in regards to that. I was able to purchase the planer for 23% off which was a steal. I was looking at Grizzly jointers and was wondering what the difference between these two models are the G0858 and G0490X other than the availability. Thank You

Great news things re going well in the transition. Always a trade-off when relocating especially north, but at least you won't have to deal with the miserable heat/humidity combo during the summer...lots of clear freshwater lakes to keep you cool just in case. Have you spent much time at the AFB at San Antonio either before or since your retirement? I know it's a huge base...my step-brother, (retired AF) works out there as a civilian as part of the re-fueling wing.

I spent almost all of my time in SA at Brooke Army Medical Center and the Center for the Intrepid rehabbing my leg. I know a civilian there who works as a mechanic on the F-16s at Lackland, he never did get me up in a jet...
December 19, 20187 yr Glad to hear you closed on the property. 200 Amps to the shop is a big plus. Electrical wiring is not really hard, I updated our present home from 60 Amp fuses to a 200 Amp main panel with two 100 Amp sub panels, and a 70 Amp generator panel. Passed the inspections first time around for both plumbing, and electrical. Edited December 19, 20187 yr by Larry Buskirk
