Labor Day weekend and the beginning of College Football and lots to do. Still in the dog days of summer here, but you can tell that cooler temps are on the way and fall won't be too far off. I'm already thinking about readying the shop for winter and it's been upper 90's all week.

I've been working all this week at the range so no shop time foe me, but the boys have been busy with several projects.

Corn hole boards and Oak Table tops in glue up.

Corn hole boards are Cherry and Maple. All of the boards we have been making are hardwoods, no plywood or MDF in these. We have been tuning them out as fast as the two of them can glue up tops and put them together.

Frames cut out for the next batch.

I am spraying the final finish on the Walnut/Cedar chest this morning. Hope to have it out of the finishing room and delivered this evening or tomorrow. Had a run around the "G" and had to sand it down so I can fix that.

The finishing room as been so full we have been moving pieces in and out to try to finish as quickly as possible.

Not sure what we would have done without this finishing room. Like everything, now I wish i had made it twice the size!

So this weekend will be busy in the shop part of the time, no volleyball this weekend. I am shooting in USPSA this weekend so I have to get some reloads done and ready at some point.

So what's on your long Labor Day holiday weekend agenda? As always, we here at TPW love to see your projects, shops and hear about your weekend plans. So post those picture and share with us what you have planned.

Whatever you do this weekend, have fun and be safe!

Still working on those antler rosettes. Probably get them mounted this weekend.

We've got some up coming medical stuff that will likely cut into shop time. Almost exactly ten years ago, due to an auto accident, my wife had to have a knee replacement. Now, as she has aged, the other leg has gradually grown somewhat shorter. Consequently, her spine and hips have become misaligned, causing severe pain.
Yesterday, an MRI confirmed that she'll need specialized medical help. She has been referred to a specialist in Flagstaff, AZ. Coincidentally, she'll see the same guy who was on call and attended her the night of her accident. Appointment is next Friday. We're hoping further surgery isn't necessary. Poor gal has also had a shoulder replaced just 6 years ago. She's been cut on enough.

At any rate, a few trips back and forth to the Doc (240 miles, RT) will preclude much shop work. She says that she can drive herself but, that ain't happening.

Gene, Mimi and I are praying for the Mrs.

For me, trying to get poly to dry in this humid weather.

here's pulling for you and yours Gene...

@John Moody ....

you guys guys do some mighty fine work...

past impressive...

just trying to get the kitchen recovered...

I want to add my best wishes for Gene's wife, hoping all goes well! I know full well what that long trip for help means, while things have changed recently, we made many trips to the big cities for different medical reasons.

Sorry to hear of her problems Gene. Hope all goes well, you both will be in our prayers.

Thanks @Stick486. We try hard!

@Gene Howe prayer for you and the lady.

@John Moody great looking working . would love to get into your scrape bin beside the TS.

Finally build another cabinet yesterday. Kinda down and dirty from scrapes by the laminate looks good with the cherry doors... Just a bunch of stuff I have accumulated and hope to mount it today. Thinking I need to get rid of my old Craftsman saw and make some more room. Rarely use it anymore since it is set with dado blade permanent . After doing the shelves last week for my son I see a lot of tools I just never use and no sense in leaving it for the boys to deal with someday in the distant (I hope ) future. But I will not give up my shop.

Gene sorry to hear about your wife, I didn't know. We are all pulling for you and her. Man 240 miles round trip that is a long way. She sounds like my wife in saying she would drive it by her self. I am like you I wouldn't let her.

Too much crowds for me. I prefer nice and quiet at home where I can get my own projects done. You know the three lifetimes worth that I came up with in the desert of Iraq.

Always enjoy seeing what follows you home as well as what you leave there.:P Careful out there...supposed to be oppressively hot & humid in WC Indiana.

Extra transport duties tonight, tomorrow & Monday for various games, events. Both girls also have practices on Monday and of course two completely different time frames.

Continue mowing this PM...likely will have to finish tomorrow if it doesn't rain. Sunday, SS & church, out for lunch then a few errands.

Any uncommitted time TBD.

Prayers to the Mrs. @Gene Howe and for both your safe travels in the upcoming days.

The long holiday weekend is being spent siding the house.  The only two breaks I’ll get is church on Sunday morning and Notre Dame football on Saturday night.  Go Irish!

in my thread, got my wormy maple base board stock routed and first coat of poly on.

shooting IDPA tomorrow.

might get coats 2 and 3 on the baseboards sunday.

deer season starts in wyoming tomorrow, but i won't be up there for a few weeks.  save me some fat chicks (does)

Thanks guys, for the prayers and good thoughts.
