Not a busy shop weekend here, but will be busy with 3 of the granddaughters, 12,2 and 1 1/2. Should be a busy fun time.

Yesterday i I spent some time getting a model loaded into the computer so I can start to cut and make some grips for my 1911’s with the CNC instead of shaping by hand.

Josh and Andrew managed to get the order of corn hole games out and now have orders for four more sets. Wow, those have turned into a busy time.

I got dye and the first coats of finish on some shelves that go to the range I never finishes a while back. I got one side done and then sidetracked.

By the way I love my finishing room.

so that’s about it around my shop. What’s on you agenda this weekend.

I’m seriously jealous over your finishing room.   Tomorrow is a busy day for me.  The last Saturday in July is always the Summerfest show so I’ll be set up there but it is also the day set apart for alumni of our old high school to come back to town and reminisce.  Fun day......hopefully profitable also.

food, more food and assorted grub...

Spraying and digging weeds. Repairing drywall. Maybe, hopefully, some shop time. Cleaning is on the agenda.

Need to start designing a cedar chest/bench my wife has been hounding me about for the last few years.  About time she benefits from my woodworking - LOL

Got to clean the pistols I used at the range yesterday. Some shop time working on laminated turned boxes.

Wife, daughter and grand-kids headed North to the Indiana Dunes along shores of Lake Michigan this AM. They'll be back Sunday evening. I had other commitments & plans in the works. Saturday planning to take my step-father to the Tippecanoe Steam & Gas Power Show. Looks like there will be plenty of antique tractors, engines, cars, & trucks. I had to go by the grounds earlier today on another mission (pics below).

Shop time will be mostly mechanical in nature; today received a fuel pump for my front mount mower I ordered off eBay Tuesday so will replace it. Also received a window regulator/motor from Rock Auto for wife's Jeep so have that to install too.

The rest of the time I will be "baby-sitting" our newest family member..."Charley" (pics from CL posting); Challenging life circumstances for her previous family made her available for adoption.

She' a 'midi' Australian Shepherd...father was a mini; mother was a full size...Born January 1st of this year. She has LOTS of energy...boy's will be quite surprised and excited when they return home Sunday.

Has most of a Type 11/type 12 version on it.....SW iron, and Lever cap aren't.

Sorta kinda a repeat of last week...

Work on the stairway project continues, squeezed in among other stuff.  For today, Saturday, I plan to get the final couple coats of poly on the handrails.

Most of the rest of the day will be spent preparing to travel with the Mrs. again as she heads to another of Georgia's  coastal tourist towns, Saint Simons and Jekyll Islands.  We will head out early tomorrow morning for Charleston, SC to visit our son and pick up a few items that he will not be taking with him as he plans a move to Columbus, OH.  From there, down to St. Simons for Sunday night and then on to Jekyll where the Mrs. will work a conference Mon. through Wed.

Bummer...hopefully a good career move for him, but a big trade off moving from Charleston & the ocean & fresh seafood & the history &, &, &,;

Maybe you can schedule a visit around August 25th and make the "short hop" on up to @Fred W. Hargis Jr's for the TPW Midwest Gathering?

Another "dirty job" I suppose that someone has to do, right? :P Doubt she had to grab your arm, let alone twist it? Safe travels & ENJOY!

Thanks @Grandpadave52

The son's move is a good career move - at least in the short run.  I will be helping him to move up - but right now is scheduled for the week of Aug. 13th.  I suggested a delay (but not my ulterior motive) but was unsuccessful!  I am sure that he will be missing Charleston and all of the "ands" that you mentioned - and I am sure he will really miss it come Jan. Feb. & March!!!

And you are right about this other "dirty job".  I might get some beach time out of it this week...

if you get tired of that...

sub the job to me...

note the eye contact..

what a great way to start out...

hope you loose the cage soon unless you turn it into an always open cave (as in loose the door) like home/safe place for her...

dogs prefer to breathe through their noses... open mouth breathing may indicate they're too warm/hot or thirsty... both

Here, read some on it...

I'll keep it in mind, but suspect when the kids get home & see her for the first time, I'll have all the help I need. she is going to be a perfect dog for the two grandsons. she needs them; they need her.

Yes, once of the first things I noted when I went to meet with her (them). Of course the attention span of a gnat at 7 months, but she does listen surprisingly well. A lot to work on yet, but giving her space to acclimate to the change of environment and ownership. A lot for her to see & check out on 5 acres...she had primarily been an inside dog with little area to run since they lived in a sub-division with houses on top of each other.

The cage is a necessity especially at night for now. Not fully housebroken but very close. New surroundings, with two cats who are less than happy she arrived. They told me is had become a safe place for her and I'm seeing that already. After bringing her home yesterday, I had to clean, prune, change bedding in the outside kennel; had not been used for a couple of years; I put her in the cage for an hour so after we had walked the property a couple of times; she slept. later in the evening after a couple of long walks (runs for her), I missed her...she was in the cage, resting.

Our previous Border Collie needed hers as a safe place at night and during storms. During severe thunderstorms, she watched until you latched the door, then and only then she would lay down. Rest of the time the door was open but she slept in there at night.

She's loving the new spaces to run...rabbits, robins, ground squirrels will get back with you on their thoughts once they resurface.:cowboy:

Too many unwanted varmits...raccoons, opossums, stray cats, potential for coyotes etc. that might invite themselves in.

I'll just have to readjust my schedule for a while. We'll get there.

Ever have a Yard Nazi next door?    One that turns you in to the city?   I was out mowing this morning...because I thought my yard needed a bit of trim.....sure enough, as soon as she heard MY mower running, she was out mowing her's, even though it was just mowed three days ago....

As a favour last year...I also mowed the abandoned alleyway between the two yards.....after today, that favour ends.   I have a fence row that shows where my property line ENDS.    From now on, that is all the further I will mow.   She had to pause a bit..to lower her mower.   One of those that has to make the neighbor's yards look bad, while her's looks like a putting green.

Rant over....
