Our Patriot turners have been at it again! Lots of projects posted and input provided.

@RustyFN escaped serious injury when a gouge he was using snapped in half.

Rusty was turning a log when a catch damages the tool and lacerated his hand. Read about the incident in Rusty's thread-

@Ron Altier is busy experimenting with different woods and finishes with his beautiful ornaments.

Although he didn't turn these, member @Jay is making some lures for fly fishing.

Lots of input including a link for ideas on turned lures. Read about Jay's post-

@Smallpatch is making some "Teapots" He has posted several images of his work. He creates fantastic detail in his pieces-

Several weeks ago we talked about the different skew chisel shapes. Some turners prefer the curves end while others prefer the "straight" edge. I found this article by Alan Lacer, from Popular Woodworking Magazine, detailing how to convert the straight end to a curved end. It includes the author's opinion of why he prefers this shape.

Our generous sponsor, Easy Wood Tools, @Jim from Easy Wood Tools shared a video on YouTube of a really special turning by Jim Overton. Mr. Overton uses EWT tools almost exclusively to create a lamp from various materials. The really awesome aspect of the project is the appearance of the lamp when it is finished.

I came across a nice site that has lots of turnings that include project details. You may find a project idea from the listings.

I'm a little late with this post of "Rick Turns" YouTube video list for April. If you check out this list, please give Rick a BIG Thank You for all his work!

This was a "Mom" day for me. I don't know how a 92 year old 4' 8" lady can run me into the ground! Anyway, when I got home, I found this on the porch-

Looks like all turning isn't artsy fartsy.

I found a chunk of wood in the wood shed-

Cut a chunk for the turning-

I'll need to drill a hole for the tang and the turn the handle. That'll be tomorrow- after I paint the deck furniture.

Safe turning

Thanks Lew.  Good reminder that we can save a few dollars doing our own repairs where possible.

Nice compilation, thank you Lew
