July 3, 20187 yr Sorry to chime in late on this. Yes, color matching is a challenge sometimes. Also as noted above, wood changes color as it ages and is exposed to light. And stains do the same. Generally, but not always, wood gets darker. Stains (dye or pigment) tend to fade over time. And some finishes change over time and some don't. So you have some components going one way, and the others going the opposite direction, at different and unpredictable rates.
