i'm sticking with my first reply:

John Morris Woodworking.

as for a website, it doesn't have to match.  really.  sawdust.com; rocking_chairs.com;

it's a personal business, so use your name.  if someone want's to find you, they will.

I'm curious why the URL needs to be "short"

Easy recall Lew. It's just easier to remember. A shortened url is also easier to display on business cards etc.

Also email accounts are based off the url as well among other behind the scenes reasons why a shortened url is best.

I have some more input for a name.

Here is the feel behind it all, a smokey cabin in the Appalachians, fine mist settling over the pines, a woodworker splitting logs with his/her froe, a ballad of violin music playing old timey on the front porch, hand made baskets, barrels, chairs, wood burning in the fireplace.

Those are some "blue sky" ideas that come to mind when thinking of a name for our shop. And, "Courtland" must be in this very short name, it's a tall order I know.

I am partial to a few you have all put out there, I'll hold my selections till we may see some more come in, you all are the greatest for taking the time from your day to help us with this.

I take it that your daughter will be playing the violin music to go with the theme - "Are you ready to ROCK?" I can see the video now.

To bad you want a short name - Courtland's Smokey Mountain Rockers would match the "feel" you mentioned.

I don't agree, Kelly and John.

The rustic feel of the Smokies is NOT the vibe I get from John's chairs...not at all.

Your  elegant work speaks for itself. Let it sing.

I am trying to follow John's vision is all. I have not sat in one of John's chairs to get any VIBE off of them :D

Make this a contest, maybe a free rocking chair for the winning suggestion!

I am sure you would get enough reading material for a week if you did that...

Ahhh, but Gene, much of the finest folk art and woodworking comes from that region. Just some more feedback. And thanks Gene, for the wonderful compliment you bestowed upon my work!

I agree with Gene, your rocking chair doesn't bring me visions of sitting in front of a fire place in a run down shack with an old hound dog laying at your feet. It needs a more fine furniture setting.

Just saying,

Nobody said runned down cabins!

A major mis conception of life in the Appalachia. But since you all are heading that way, perhaps it's not a good vision after all.

If that's the first impression folks get, as wrong as it is.
