I've been wanting to one of these for a couple years, ever since a youtube author named Peter Brown did one. It's a zoetrope, which is an old fashioned animation player. Hope to have a video up on it in the next couple of days.

Yes, Steve, I have seen these in museums.  Great project.  Will be looking forward to your video.

Looks Nice. I will have to look it up online to see what a zoetrope is.

So now that I know what you're working on, I'll be looking forward to the video and the "rest of the story." This looks like something Frank & Mike might pick and be all gushy over.:D:lol:

That is a nice project.  Where did the animation tape come from?

In the Movie  "Oz, the Great & Powerful"    during the circus sequence,  Oz fixes a picture in one of those.    His was powered by a clockwork device.   Had a light inside to shine the dancing elephant onto the walls of his trailer.

Thanks Steve

That is pretty cool !!

I had to look it up on YouTube.

Great Job!!

Great job Steve. I've never actually seen one, but I do remember flicking small pages to view the movements . Does this spin freely on the handle?

It "turned" out to be a pretty long video so I split it into two parts. The first is uploaded and the second should be up later this evening. Thanks for looking!!

Thanks Al, it does, the handle is hollow with a shaft through it. The little knob at the bottom will spin it.

Thanks Gerald, the second one is up. By and large it's mostly basic spindle turning so there is a lot of fast forward in it.
