Hey Mardi Gras is over but I just had my King Cake from NO delivered. Man you talk about something to beat doughnuts!!!!

Depends on where you got/who made the King Cake! Most of the mass baked ones are like cardboard unless they're very fresh baked. However, there are a few certain bakery's that make them to die for...

 

I used to love to get the filled ones, also. Not totally traditional but waaaaaay better then filled doughnuts!

Copy that! The best ones were from the Cafe du Monde down by Jackson Square. Some of the local malls have shops...but they are not as good. The coffee is great, also! Not for the faint of heart, though. This was the only time that any cream or sweetener ever passed my lips in a cup of coffee.

 

I spent more then a few Saturday mornings with a plate of hot biegnets and a cup of coffee watching the tourists go by the Cafe.

Well, you would be at about four (4) feet below sea level at that point. However, the Vieux Carre (French Quarter) is not a flood prone area. Go figure that out! I never remember the Quarter ever flooding...even during Katrina I don't think that it flooded.
