When I buy a tool;

Featured Replies

For some reason....whenever I am buying a tool..it is while out on a rust hunt.    Just about every tool I have came from a rust hunt.

Except for sanders......when one dies, I just go get a new one.    Nothing fancy.

Drill press?   had an old Monkey-wards that finally couldn't keep a motor running, no matter what motor i hung on it,,,,,,now in about the 5 or 6th year with a harbour Freight  model.  Maybe it will last as long?    Already replaced the drive belt.    $5?    I think I can handle that....

mmmm.pocket knife with screwdriver....   electrician or scout model???

it was the scout model, had the whole kids tool box on it.

I have so many tools now that I am pretty selective on what I buy. I am not into "collector" tools,i.e. Bridge City,Woopeckers  onetime tools, I buy tools to use, the same as guns, nothing fancy,just useful to get the job done. Also don't buy finicky tools that need a lot of fussing to keep running. I don't like to fuss with tools, like to turn them on and go to work.

Ah, the "collector" tools are pretty, and may work better than what i have available...  and if i ever hit the lottery i might think about it (if the kids don't put me in a home to keep me from blowing through it...lol)...

mmmm, guess i have to BUY a lottery ticket...

That's easy...

If I like it I buy it...

If I really like it I buy three...

One for each work shop...

I am on a Seetool diet.

I see a tool and I have to have it

There is something to be said about having the correct tool for a specific function. Over the years when dollars limited my buying options I worked around situations with various inventive ways to accomplish my goal. From the beginning I bought the best I could, now I have what I need--used once or daily. I take great satisfaction in quality--- convenience---function. Used once or often I never give thought to cost, if the need is present. We live but once---the cost of a tool will generally not effect our final days
