There's a guy on a FB forum who has made the ubiquitous planter boxes from cedar pickets. He says, "Customer wants them painted/stained black, and sealed with a polyurethane." (Some of us) are trying to convince him that poly for an exterior finish and worse over paint, is a really bad idea.

I finally removed a shrub that was over grown and filled in the space with some planter boxes. Planters are open on top with a shelf inside for the pots to set on. It doesn't take much for a morning glory to take hold.

Well the holly wood planter is finished, and came out fairly well. Best I could do with what wood I had. Started with rough, warped boards, tried to make them presentable. Herb
