I love that table, somewhere my wife caught a pic of one and mentioned to me how much she would like to have one. I threw out that copy of the mag, so I may have to wing it if I build one...sure hope it's as nice as that if I do it.

Thanks, Fred. It's a pretty easy build. Any questions, just holler.

Absolutely perfection to the nth degree Gene, wow! The grain, the color, the work, it all flows together so well, this is one of thee nicest river tables I have ever seen, no kidding.

@John Morris, I was lucky enough to find that huge mesquite slab. It's the wood that makes it, the build was simple. Like the builder.

Where do you get those slabs Gene? Local or mail order?

Local...well about 100 miles or so, south. In Casa Grande. The sawyer salvages from anywhere they're clearing for development, roads etc. He also salvages from pecan and pistachio orchards.

That particular slab was about 11' long and 3" thick. I bought it for $20.

What! Nice job Gene, I am looking at Mesquite now, sawyers and retailers, that table you made really peeked my interest in the wood.

By the way Gene, you went with glass? I thought you were the one working on the resin river type?

@John Morris I do a lot of resin for inlays AKA, repairs in mesquite.  But, not much big stuff.

I went with glass because it was simpler. NOT cheaper, though.

Gene, what resin do you use, and where do you get it? TIA

Gorgeous table Gene. That slab of mesquite has some beautiful grain.

Thanks, Dave. IMHO, all mesquite has that gorgeous grain. It's understandable considering it's slow growth and harsh conditions.

That's a nice piece of work Gene. I'd love to give resin a crack, but it seems prohibitively expensive without supervision to get it right.

Thanks, Fiz. But, that river is glass. A lot simpler than epoxy.

Kudos.  I thought I had posted on this before but I don't see it.  I love it as others have so well said and explained.

I call myself a wood worker then I see something like this.  Absolute perfection. I am not worthy. I am not worthy.:Praise:

Thanks, John. It wasn't that difficult. The slab sorta dictated the design. The build was pretty basic.

Gene, I saw a video on this table (or one just about like it) on Youtube some time ago. If you do some searching you can probably find it too
