I used my new Iwasaki 10mm wide file to get the sides and the bottoms just right for the final fitting of the rockers. These files are really really nice. They really remove the material very quickly, and leave a very fine finish.

I bought this one at http://www.thebestthings.com/newtools/iwasaki_floats.htm

Those look to be an excellent addition to the file collection. My four in hand rasps would be so jealous.

Gene, I have used traditional files, floats and rasps since I was a wee lad, I have seen the hand stitched tooling and the Japan tooling for a decade or more, and just kind of poo fooed their existence as another gimmick, but man, this file is bad to the bone.

Retailers advertise these Japan files as "a thousand tiny block planes" and that is exactly what you get. The ribs you see are actually tiny razor blades and just as sharp, they actually produce tiny shavings. And to remove the tiny shavings as you go, just blow on the file and it dislodges all the trappings.

They are on my wish list. Got a birthday coming up. I'll drop a hint.....or three.

No longer on the wish list. Thank you Phyllis!

And, thank you John, for your research and glowing recommendation.
